LEAVES OF ABSENCE AND SICK LEAVE. Sick Leave shall be compensated on the same basis as presently provided by existing law and shall be accumulated and compensated in the same manner as all other employees of the Town. The Town agrees that no employee shall be required to submit a Doctor’s Certificate to the Town Clerk, through the Department Head, for any illness, unless the period of illness if five (5) consecutive days or after a total of ten (10) accumulated days throughout the calendar year. Sick certificates will be required under these terms whether the employee receives compensation or not in order for this leave to be considered an approved sick leave of absence. Leaves of absence may be granted by the Town for emergency situations by Mayor and Town Council.

LEAVES OF ABSENCE AND SICK LEAVE. 11.01 Leave of Absence - Voluntary 11.01.01 When the requirements of the Company permit, an employee, upon written request through their immediate supervisor, may be granted a voluntary leave of absence without pay for a period exceeding thirty (30) consecutive calendar days but not exceeding one (1) year. Requests for thirty (30) consecutive calendar days or less will be handled as time off in accordance with Article 7.0501. 11.01.02 Requests for leaves of absence will be considered in order of seniority among those on hand at the time of granting. 11.01.03 The Company will indicate its approval of the leave in writing, including commencement and termination dates, preferably fourteen (14) or more calendar days prior to the requested commencement date of the leave. Once approved, a leave may not be cancelled except by mutual agreement between the employee and the Company. 11.01.04 If the employee wishes to return to work prior to the approved termination of the leave, the employee shall make the request to their immediate supervisor. The request shall be in writing at least fourteen (14) calendar days in advance of the requested termination date: in extenuating circumstances, the fourteen (14) day requirement may be waived. The Company may authorize a return to work on the date requested or another day mutually acceptable to both Company and employee, or the Company may deny the request. 11.01.05 When a leave of absence is terminated prior to the originally approved date, no other employee will be displaced. The Company will advise the employee in writing of its decision on the request to terminate the leave. 11.01.06 A leave of absence may be extended upon written request to the Company, copied to Union Headquarters, provided the request is received no later than fourteen (14) days prior to the termination of the leave of absence and provided there is mutual agreement between the Company and the Union at the Headquarters level to extend the leave of absence. 11.01.07 An employee who engages in other employment while on leave of absence shall be deemed to have resigned unless they have specific permission to engage in such other employment from the Company with Union Headquarters’ concurrence in writing. 11.01.08 Pay progressions shall be retarded by a period of time equal to the length of the leave of absence. 11.01.09 Employees on a voluntary leave of absence will have their vacation entitlement reduced in accordance with Article 14.02.04. 11.01.10 Seni...

Leaves of Absence Without Pay Leaves of absence without pay shall be granted upon application to supervisors on regular appointment or proper assignment for the following purposes: a. Study related to the supervisor's license field. b. Study to meet eligibility requirements for a license other than that held by the supervisor. c. Acceptance of a supervisory or teaching position in a foreign country for one year, with such leave renewable for an additional year. Such position shall be sponsored or approved by the Government of the United States. d. Acceptance of a teaching or supervisory position in the City University or a college of the University of the State of New York for one year with such leave renewable for one year. The Board will recommend to the Teachers' Retirement Board the granting of retirement credit for the duration of the aforesaid leaves. "Urgent needs" of the school to which the supervisor is assigned may be asserted by the Board as justifying a temporary denial of any application for leave without pay. 2. Leaves of Absence for CSA Officers Supervisors who are officers of the CSA or who are appointed to its staff shall, upon proper application, be given a leave of absence without pay during the 1992-93, 1993-94, 1994-95, and 1995-96 school years for the purpose of performing legitimate duties for the CSA. Supervisors given leaves of absence without pay shall receive credit toward annual salary increments on the schedules appropriate to their rank. The Board agrees to recommend to the Teachers' Retirement Board that the time spent on leave of absence pursuant to this section be granted as service credit for retirement purposes and that the supervisors receiving such leave of absence be permitted to pay regular monthly contributions based upon their earnable salaries as members of the supervisory staff for the period of such leave. No more than ten leaves of absence without pay shall be granted for each full school year.

LEAVES OF ABSENCE AND SICK LEAVE. Members may, at the discretion of the City, be granted leaves of absence without pay. During such leave, a member will not earn vacation days and will not be credited with sick leave days or seniority. Longevity will be adjusted accordingly. The City will continue to carry health and life insurance coverage on the member. However, the member will be responsible for all premiums advanced by the City while the member was on leave. Leave shall be granted on approval of the Department Head and the City Manager.
LEAVES OF ABSENCE AND SICK LEAVE. A. Personal Leave of Absence Upon written request, a non-probationary Flight Attendant may be granted an unpaid personal leave of absence at the discretion of the Company. A Flight Attendant returning from a personal leave will not be compensated for training necessary to become re-qualified except for recurrent training and new aircraft/operating procedure training. B. Medical Leave of Absence Upon written request and presentation of documentation from a medical professional, a Flight Attendant who is unable to perform her/his duties due to illness or injury and has exhausted her/his sick leave bank shall be granted an unpaid medical leave of absence for a period not to exceed twelve (12) months. C. Maternity Leave of Absence A pregnant Flight Attendant will provide medical documentation containing her expected delivery date and certifying her ability to perform Flight Attendant duties no later than the 4th month of pregnancy, or immediately upon learning of the pregnancy if it becomes known after the 4th month. A pregnant Flight Attendant certified by her physician as unable to perform her duties will be granted an unpaid medical leave of absence in accordance with paragraph B., above. Such Flight Attendant will be eligible to receive accumulated sick leave on the same basis as any other illness.
LEAVES OF ABSENCE AND SICK LEAVE. Section 1. The following leaves of absence, without loss of pay, shall be granted upon request by any employee: (a) Employees shall have an accumulative paid sick leave at the rate of thirteen (13) days per year. Sick leave shall be interpreted to mean personal illness, quarantine at home or serious illness or death in the immediate family or household. Immediate family is defined as: parents or persons standing in lieu thereof, children, grandchildren, grandparents, brothers, sisters, spouse, parents of spouse and brothers and sisters in-law. Sick leave not used in the year of service for which it is granted shall be accumulated to a maximum of two hundred forty (240) days. There shall be a twenty-four (24) hour answering service available to employees who are calling in sick and to facilitate the hiring of substitutes. Employees must call the District Office or the answering service to report a sick day by 6:30 a.m. for day employees and 12:30 p.m. for night employees on or before the day employees are to be absent. (b) Employees shall be allowed an additional three (3) days per year of non-cumulative personal leave for business purposes or religious observance. Business purposes is defined as any business that cannot be conducted at a time not in conflict with the employee's regular working day or night, an emergency over which he/she has no control which requires immediate attention and the observance of religious obligations. The Business Manager or his/her designee shall be notified two (2) days in advance by the employee applying for business leave. In case of an emergency, the employee shall phone that he/she will be absent as prescribed in Article VIII, Section 1 (a). Any employee requesting the use of a business day leave on the first or last day of the school year, or any day before or after a holiday or for use of two (2) consecutive business days will give detailed reasons for such leave to the Superintendent or his/her designee. The unused personal leave for business purposes or religious observance at the end of the school year shall be added to the employee's accumulated sick leave but in no case shall such accumulation exceed two hundred and forty (240) days. (c) Employees who are required to serve on jury duty during the year shall receive full salary during the period of service subject to their prompt remittance to the District of the amount equal to the compensation paid to them for such jury duty.
