Sick Leave Buy Back Program. Teachers who have served in the Framingham Public Schools for fifteen (15) years or more will be entitled to a buy-back of unused sick leave time upon retirement according to the following stipulations:

Sick Leave Buy Back Program. Purpose: The purpose of the Sick Leave Buy-Back Program is to encourage employees to make judicious use of their annual sick leave allotment by providing a financial incentive. Eligibility: In order to participate in this Program, an employee must satisfy all of the following conditions:
Sick Leave Buy Back Program. 39 In January, any eligible employee may exercise an option to receive remuneration for sick 40 leave not used in the previous year at a rate equal to one day's monetary compensation of the 41 employee for each four (4) full days of unused sick leave as long as the employee has sixty 42 (60) days accrued sick leave.
Sick Leave Buy Back Program. After an employee has accrued the maximum of 800 hours of sick leave that City would pay upon separation of employment or retirement, the employee may participate in the sick leave buy-back program. If an employee does not use more than 40-hours of accrued sick leave in a fiscal year, the employee will be eligible to sell back up to 40-hours of accrued sick leave from the 800 hour bank for cash at their current rate of pay. Once the employee opts to sell back sick leave, the 800 hour bank is reduced by the number of hours sold back to the City each fiscal year. Xxxx leave hours accrued after participation in the sick leave buy-back program will be placed in the employee’s sick leave bank for hours that are not reimbursable upon separation. Written notification of the employee’s desire to sell accrued sick leave must be submitted to payroll on or before October 15th of the following year and payment will be made in the first full pay period after November 10th.
Sick Leave Buy Back Program. All employees hired prior to May 1, 1997 will be grandfathered to the current contract language as regards Sick Leave Buy Back. Bargaining unit employees who retire or leave the employment of the library under honorable circumstances and with twenty (20) or more continuous years of service and at age 55 or older may choose to be paid at their final rate of pay for all accumulated unused sick leave according to the following schedule: Total Hours Available Percentage Less than 400 0% 400-499 50% 500-599 55% 600-699 60% 700-799 65% 800 or more 70% All employees hired from 5/1/97 through 4/30/10 who are at least 55 years of age, with twenty (20) or more years of service as a City employee, shall be paid at their final hourly rate for all accumulated unused sick leave according to the following schedule: Less than 400 Hours 0% Next 100 Hours (400-499) 50% Next 100 Hours (500-599) 55% Next 100 Hours (600-699) 60% Next 100 Hours (700-799) 65% Next 161 Hours (800-960) 70% Employees hired after 4/30/10 are ineligible for sick leave buyback upon retirement or other separation from employment.
Sick Leave Buy Back Program a. At the time of separation from District employment, an eligible employee or the employee's estate shall be entitled, upon written request to Human Resources, to compensation for all unused Sick Leave up to the one-thousand four-hundred forty (1,440) hour maximum at the ratio of 4:1 at his/her straight time hourly rate. Alternatively, if/when the District offers VEBAIII or other qualifying program, the District will discuss such programs with the Union.

At the time of separation from school district employment due to retirement or death, an eligible employee or the employee's estate shall receive remuneration at a rate equal to one day's current monetary compensation of the employee for each four (4) days accrued sick leave. Not more than one hundred eighty (180) sick leave days shall be eligible for conversion. At the beginning of each school year, employees may vote whether to receive such remuneration in their pay or in a VEBA account. An employee may use accrued sick leave for an employee or family member, mental or physical illness, injury or health condition; to accommodate for employee’s need for medical diagnosis, care, or treatment of a mental or physical illness, injury, or health condition; or an employee’s need for preventative medical care. A family member includes spouse, domestic partner, parent, parent-in-law, child (regardless of age), grandparent, grandchild, or sibling.

Sick Leave Buy Back Program. Any employee hired before January 1, 2009, that has accrued over nine hundred sixty (960) hours of sick leave may elect to receive a twenty percent (20%) payout of the unused amount of sick leave earned in the current year at the employee’s base hour rate of pay in the year in which the sick time was earned. The payout shall be requested by the employee no later than November 30 of each calendar year and shall be paid on the last payroll of the following January (no later than January 31). Under no circumstances will the payout be based on more than the hours earned in one year, which is one hundred twenty (120) hours (maximum twenty-four [24] hours paid each year). Any time paid out under this program will be deducted from the employee’s accrual.
