SICK LEAVE EXTENSION. If needed and with approval of the superintendent or designee, a teacher may be permitted to borrow up to five (5) days sick leave from the following year’s sick leave appropriation for that staff member. If that person should, for any reason, leave prior to the time when the borrowed sick leave would be repaid, s/he will have the amount of sick leave borrowed and not repaid taken from his/her last pay check at the rate of 1/185 of the contract salary per day of sick leave owed to the district. For employees returning to the system, borrowed sick leave will be subtracted from next year’s sick leave.

SICK LEAVE EXTENSION. (a) Permanent employees who have served continuously for two (2) years shall be granted sick leave with one-half pay for a period not to exceed three (3) months. It is understood and agreed that this three (3) month period represents the total mandatory sick leave extension benefit for the employee's career at the College. Employees must utilize all accumulated sick and vacation leave credits before they are entitled to the sick leave extension benefit. Requests for a sick leave extension must be accompanied by a document prepared by a physician of the employee's choice which certifies as to the employee's disability. A doctor's statement will be required at the completion of each thirty (30) day period which certifies as to the employee's continued disability.

Any employee who has two (2) years of employment or more, may request in writing to their direct supervisor an advance of up to ten (10) additional sick leave days to cover any waiting period for disability coverage if the employee has not enough leave credit to cover that waiting period.

SICK LEAVE EXTENSION a. When an illness extends beyond thirty (30) calendar days and after accrued sick leave and personal leave days have been exhausted, the Board will provide these professional employees with five or more years of experience in Perkiomen Valley:
SICK LEAVE EXTENSION. In the case of prolonged illness extending beyond one’s accumulated sick leave, the Board may grant additional sick leave, with or without pay, at their discretion. The request for additional sick leave can be initiated by the exclusive representative or superintendent of schools. Denial of sick leave beyond the earned accumulation is not grievable.
SICK LEAVE EXTENSION. 32.1 In the event of extended illness beyond accumulated sick leave and vacation, an employee may submit to the Personnel Director a request for an extension of sick leave at one-half pay up to fifteen (15) days. Such a request must be in writing and must be accompanied with supportive statements from a licensed practicing physician. The Personnel Director may approve such a request if, in his/her opinion, the previous service of the employee warrants favorable consideration, and if medical statements indicate that the employee will be able to return to work at the end of the extension period. An employee may, for a period following return from sick leave, work on a part- time basis if approved by the Personnel Director in advance. Compensation will be for time actually worked. All advanced sick time must be paid back as new time accrues.
