SPECIAL/COMPASSIONATE LEAVE. It is understood that the provisions contained within Article 12 may, in special circumstances, not be sufficient or reasonable, keeping in mind the interests of the Teachers and the Board. Further, it is understood that to attempt a categorization of circumstances where special compassionate leave may be properly granted is not desirable. Therefore, the Board recognizes that leaves of absence may be appropriate in circumstances not defined by this Article. A Teacher may apply for a special compassionate leave of absence of definite or indefinite duration, only after having exhausted the provisions of article (a) The approval of such leave shall be at the discretion of the Director of Education or designate. Where such leave is granted up to four (4) days in any school year may be with deduction from accumulated sick leave credits or loss of pay, at the option of the Teacher. Further use of accumulated sick leave credits, for leaves granted under this clause shall be only upon the approval of the Director of Education or designate.

SPECIAL/COMPASSIONATE LEAVE. An employee may be granted a leave of absence of up to three (3) working days with pay for special/compassionate reasons with the President’s approval. A request to take special/compassionate leave of more than three (3) working days requires approval of the Executive Committee. Approval for special/compassionate leave shall be in the sole discretion of AMAPCEO.
SPECIAL/COMPASSIONATE LEAVE. 13.07.01 The Commissioner or Assistant Deputy Minister (as applicable) may grant leave- of-absence with pay to an employee, for not more than three (3) days in any calendar year, upon any special or compassionate ground. (b) Leave-of-absence without pay and without accumulation of credits may be granted to an employee by the Commissioner. (c) Leave-of-absence with pay may be granted for special or compassionate purposes to an employee for a period of (i) up to six (6) months with the approval of the Commissioner, (ii) over six (6) months with the approval of the Lieutenant Governor in Council. (d) No employee shall be absent from duty on a leave-of-absence provided for in sub-sections 9.02(b) and 9.02(c) unless the employee previously obtained the authorization required by this sub-section. (e) An application for leave-of-absence under Section 9.02 shall be in writing and shall set out the reason for the leave-of-absence.
SPECIAL/COMPASSIONATE LEAVE. The Regional or Bureau Commander or Director, OPC (as applicable) may grant leave-of-absence with pay to an employee, for not more than four (4) days in any calendar year, upon any special or compassionate ground. Such leave shall not be dependent upon nor charged against accumulated credits of the employee. And further, leave of absence requests shall not be unreasonably denied.
SPECIAL/COMPASSIONATE LEAVE. 19.1 Compassionate Leave with pay shall be granted in extraordinary or emergency circumstances where an employee is forced to be absent from duty because of an urgent pressing necessity. 19.2 Compassionate Leave shall be limited to the time necessary to cover the immediate emergency. 19.3 Such leave shall be granted on the following principles: 19.3.1 Death and funeral of parent, spouse, child, sibling, grandparent, parent-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter- in-law and any other person where special circumstances exist, for example, the employee residing with the deceased.
SPECIAL/COMPASSIONATE LEAVE. The Corporation agrees to develop a policy to oversee the administration of the clause: (a) The Director or his/her designate may grant an employee leave of absence with pay for not more than two (2) shifts in a calendar year upon special or compassionate grounds. (b) The granting of leave under this article shall not be dependent upon or charged against short term disability and such requests shall not be unreasonably denied.

SPECIAL/COMPASSIONATE LEAVE. Medical leave, such as time off for examinations, doctors and dentists appointments should be taken either at the start or end of the day and must be agreed in advance with the Project Coordinator. In such cases, flexi leave should be used to cover your absence from work to attend appointments. If you are required to make regular appointments to the doctors, hospital etc, this should be discussed with the Project Coordinator. Any undocumented period of absence will be counted as unauthorised absence and go against your record as such. Compassionate leave may be granted due to the death of a close relative or a sudden domestic crisis and must be agreed with the Project Coordinator.

An application for leave-of-absence under Article 26 shall be in writing and shall set out the reason for the leave-of-absence.
