Use of Accumulated Sick Leave Credits. Accumulated sick leave credits as may be available may be used to reduce the amount of leave without pay, upon competent medical proof that such educators are unable to perform their regular duties.
Use of Accumulated Sick Leave Credits. 31.2.1 Permanent full-time and part-time employees, while in a posted position or in a temporary position of less than three (3) months, shall be entitled to payment for absence from work due to illness, to the extent of their accumulated credits, after three (3) months of employment. 31.2.2 Temporary and seasonal employees shall be entitled to payment for absence from work due to illness, to the extent of their accumulated sick leave credits, after six (6) months of accumulated work time, provided they are not on layoff and have had no break in service in excess of six (6) months, (nine (9) months for seasonal employees). A break in service may be extended at the discretion of the General Manager of Corporate Services, whose decision on the matter shall be final and not subject to appeal. 31.2.3 Absences due to illness shall first be charged against the current year's accumulation. Absences in excess of the current year's accumulation shall be charged to the employee's sick leave credit standing at the start of the year. 31.2.4 When an employee reports sick during a regular work day, deduction for sick leave on that day shall be calculated as follows: 31.2.4.1 No deduction if the employee has completed three-quarters (3/4) of the regular working hours. 31.2.4.2 One-half (1/2) day if the employee has completed one- quarter (1/4) but less than three-quarters (3/4) of the regular working hours. 31.2.4.3 One (1) day if the employee has completed less than one-quarter (1/4) of the regular working hours. 31.2.5 The City's obligation for sick pay and accumulation of sick leave credits shall cease on the resignation, retirement or termination of an employee.
Use of Accumulated Sick Leave Credits. Sick leave may be used at a minimum of one-half hour increments under the .:-'11 following conditions: (a) When an employee, because of an illness or injury that is non-compensable under the Michigan Worker's Compensation Act, is unable to regularly and safely perform the requirements of his job classification, the employee shall be granted a leave of absence with pay at his regular hourly rate for each hour lost from his normal work schedule, up to his maximum accumulated sick leave credits. Such lost hours and pay shall be deducted from his accumulated sick leave credits. (b) When an employee's absence from work is due to an illness or injury that is compensable under the Michigan Worker's Compensation Act, after the first day of absence necessitated thereby, he shall be entitled to utilize his accumulated sick leave credits to make up the difference between the amount of weekly benefit he receives under said Act and the amount of salary he would have received in his own job classification had he worked his regular work schedule. In no case shall the employee utilize his accumulated sick leave credits beyond that which is necessary, so that when the supplement from accumulated sick leave is added to his worker's compensation benefits, the sum received would equal an amount that the employee would otherwise have received in take home pay had he worked his regular schedule. (c) Subject to furnishing proof satisfactory to the Employer that a critical illness has occurred within the employee's immediate family, an employee may use his accumulated sick leave credits for an emergency leave subject to the following limitations: 1. Paid emergency leave for critical illness of the employee's immediate family is limited to such illness on the part of the employee's current spouse, children, or parent.

  • Accumulated Sick Leave ‌ The Employer shall inform all employees at least once each year of the number of sick days accumulated and shall make the information available to an employee on request.

  • Accumulation of Vacation Leave Credits An employee shall earn vacation leave credits for each calendar month during which the employee receives pay for at least ten (10) days at the following rate:

  • Sick Leave Credits (a) Prior to the commencement of maternity leave, illness arising due to pregnancy may be covered by normal sick leave. (b) Sick leave may be used by any pregnant employee, authorized by the receipt of a qualified medical practitioner's statement to the Employer, where there is a confirmed case of German measles or any other disease or condition in the place of employment which could be harmful to pregnancy as determined by the qualified medical practitioner's statement or report. They may use this leave until all danger from such disease or condition no longer exists.

  • Sick Leave Accumulation (a) An employee is eligible to accumulate sick leave with full pay at the rate of 16 working hours for each 173 1/3 hours of service. (b) The maximum number of days of sick leave which may be awarded to an employee during any consecutive twenty (20) year period of service shall not exceed 3840 hours.

  • Sick Leave Credit All employees shall be able to draw on a block of six (6) days sick leave when they commence employment. If all or part of this block of sick leave is used it will be paid back as sick leave is accumulated. If an employee ceases employment and has a negative balance in sick leave credit, this amount will be deducted from his/her final paycheque.

  • Vacation Leave Credits ‌ Full-time and part-time employees will be credited with vacation leave accrued monthly, according to the rate schedule and vacation leave accrual below.

  • Sick Leave Credit-Based Retirement Gratuities 1) A Teacher is not eligible to receive a sick leave credit gratuity after August 31, 2012, except a sick leave credit gratuity that the Teacher had accumulated and was eligible to receive as of that day. 2) If the Teacher is eligible to receive a sick leave credit gratuity, upon the Teacher’s retirement, the gratuity shall be paid out at the lesser of, a) the rate of pay specified by the board’s system of sick leave credit gratuities that applied to the Teacher on August 31, 2012; and b) the Teacher’s salary as of August 31, 2012. 3) If a sick leave credit gratuity is payable upon the death of a Teacher, the gratuity shall be paid out in accordance with subsection (2). 4) For greater clarity, all eligibility requirements must have been met as of August 31, 2012 to be eligible for the aforementioned payment upon retirement, and the Employer and Union agree that any and all wind-up payments to which Teachers without the necessary years of service were entitled to under Ontario Regulation 01/13: Sick Leave Credits and Sick Leave Credit Gratuities, have been paid. 5) For the purposes of the following boards, despite anything in the board’s system of sick leave credit gratuities, it is a condition of eligibility to receive a sick leave credit gratuity that the Teacher have ten (10) years of service with the board: i. Near North District School Board ii. Avon Maitland District School Board iii. Xxxxxxxx-Xxxxxxxxx District School Board

  • Vacation Leave on Retirement ‌ An employee scheduled to retire and to receive pension benefits under the Public Service Pension Plan Rules or who has reached the mandatory retiring age, shall be granted full vacation entitlement for the final calendar year of service.

  • Unused Sick Leave The accrual of unused sick leave hours is unlimited. The City and the Union commit to the evaluation and establishment of a mutually beneficial non-use of sick leave incentive and pay-out policy. Until such time that a policy is established, accumulated sick leave shall be compensated as follows: Upon retirement from the City service, an employee shall be paid sixty percent (60%) of his accumulated sick leave, with the rate of payment based upon his regular pay at the time he retires. Upon the death of an employee, his beneficiary shall be paid sixty percent (60%) of his accumulated unused sick leave, with the payment based upon his regular pay at the date of his death.

  • Deductions from Sick Leave A deduction shall be made from accumulated sick leave of all normal working days (exclusive of holidays) absent for sick leave.
