Staff Development Activities. 15.4.1 At the discretion of the immediate supervisor the unit member may be granted release time or have her/his workday adjusted to accommodate unit members to attend approved staff development activities provided the total length of the unit member’s workday does not exceed the number of regularly scheduled hours for that day. Unit members may contact the manager immediately above the supervisor for assistance if they believe they have been unduly denied access to the staff development program. In the event such a contact is made, the manager immediately above the supervisor shall within thirty (30) working days hold a follow-up meeting with the unit member.

Staff Development Activities. ESPBC unit members who are employed by BCPS during the summer and who are approved to attend job related summer staff development activities shall be compensated at their respective hourly rates of pay. ESPBC unit members who are not employed by BCPS during the summer, but are approved to attend job related staff development activities during the summer, shall be compensated at a rate of seventeen dollars and fifty cents ($17.50) per hour. ESPBC unit members who are approved to attend staff development activities during the duty year (outside of their scheduled work day) shall be compensated at their hourly rate of pay. 19.1 Definitions‌

Securing a full-time position other than stated above will follow the voluntary transfer procedure. 21.3.5. If the termination of a shared contract is initiated by the District, the partners shall have a one-time option to return to their previous status. 21.3.6. Upon request, the District will send written notification to the employee concerning the reason for the rejection of any job share request.

Staff Development Activities. A. All employees of the Association shall be permitted to participate in any existing inservice programs or courses, subject to space availability. In addition, the Board will provide $1,500 per year for administrative or supervisory staff development programs. Such programs shall be designed and carried out by the employees with the approval of the Superintendent. B. Effective July 1, 2012, an administrator who has completed all requirements for National Board Certification granted by the National Board for National Teaching Standards and has, in fact, received such certification, shall receive an annual stipend in the amount of $1,350 which shall not be added to base salary. C. The District shall establish an annual pool of $30,000 (non-cumulative) which shall be used to reimburse tuition costs for unit members enrolled in a doctoral program in education, or in an education-related field, or a field approved or pre-approved by the Superintendent that is related to their employment, offered by a duly accredited college or university, as recognized by the New York State Education Department. Reimbursement shall be limited to a maximum of $3,000 per year per unit member during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 school years. During those years, the District shall not be obligated to expend the remaining funds allocated for this purpose. Effective July 1, 2014, the maximum limit per year per unit member will increase to $4,500 if excess funds remain unused in the pool following the $3,000 per eligible member apportionment. In any year, if the pool does not have enough funds to reimburse eligible employees up to the maximum allowed, the remaining funds in the pool will be evenly distributed to eligible members. In order to be eligible for tuition reimbursement pursuant to this contractual provision, a unit member must provide proof of enrollment in a course of student leading to a doctoral degree as described above, and notify the Superintendent. Submission of reimbursable expenses must be in accordance with District procedures.

Staff Development Activities. Acknowledgement is made of the need for professional growth and the consistent need for all teachers to continue their formal studies and other related professional activities toward an improved and up-to-date quality instruction. It is also recognized that professionalism is an individual decision for teachers and, therefore, there is no credit requirement within any specific time period. No payment of any kind shall be made for credits earned, except as provided on the salary schedule.

ESPBC unit members who are approved to attend staff development activities during the duty year (outside of their scheduled workday) shall be compensated at their hourly rate of pay.
