Structuring of Leave. After consultation with the teacher, the Superintendent or designee shall prepare a plan for the commencement and termination of any leave of absence recommended for approval, taking into consideration, maintenance of continuity of instruction and medical factors to the maximum possible degree and the pertinent factors related thereto. An unpaid leave shall not exceed the balance of the school year in which it commences and one (1) additional school year, except as otherwise limited in this Article. Every effort shall be made to have such leave terminate immediately prior to the start of a new school term.
