The Work Plan. Work planning is a process in which Employees, their work unit and the Employer Representative jointly prepare a plan of action for a given period of time for each Employee. The work plan derives from CCIC’s overall planning process. The purpose of work planning is to establish valid and realistic goals/objectives for a particular period of time as well as appropriate and realistic activities and timeliness to meet those goals/objectives. The work plan should also include professional development objectives. The individual work plan should be defined within the first three (3) months from the beginning of employment. The work plan should then be reviewed at least twice a year (prior to performance evaluation) and/or at the end of each work plan period. The work plan review can be done with one or more of the Employee’s work unit colleagues. A written work plan (including clearly the period covered), should be agreed upon by both parties. If no agreement can be reached, the Employer’s decision will be final. The individual work plan is the basis for the Employee’s performance evaluation along with the job description.
