Unpaid Association Leave. 9.7.1 A leave of absence of up to two (2) years shall be granted on application, to any contract unit member for the purpose of serving as an officer or employee of the Association (EEA). If requested, the District will extend the leave for up to two (2) additional years. On return from such leave, the unit member shall be placed at the same position on the salary schedule as though he or she had been employed in the system during such a period and will be assigned a position under the terms of Section 9.11. 9.7.2 The Association shall be allowed leave without pay for unit members to attend those conferences and workshops that pertain to matters which are directly related and central to the parties' collective bargaining relationship. Unpaid Association leave will not be charged to individual unit member pay. However, the District may charge the Association at the substitute teacher daily rate for such leave or one-half (1/2) the unit member's daily salary, whichever is greater if a substitute is required to perform the services of the absent unit member.

Unpaid Association Leave. One (1) employee may be granted up to six (6) months of leave without pay with right to return to work for the Association. This leave must be requested from the Labor Relations Division of the Department of Human Resources and approved by the employee’s Department. Requests for this leave shall not be unreasonably denied.

Teachers who are elected officers, other than MEA or NEA president, of the state and national association may upon proper application, be granted a leave of absence not to exceed two (2) years for the purpose of performing duties for the Association. Said teacher will not receive credit toward regular salary increment. 2. In the event a teacher is elected president of the Michigan Education Association or the National Education Association, the teacher upon proper application shall be granted a leave of absence not to exceed four (4) years. The teacher shall receive increment for the time spent in the elected office.

Such leave shall be for the duration of the term of office. Should the term of office be for more than two years, the employee may request an extension of leave for up to one year.

  • Association Leaves 1. The Board will provide the Association President or their designee with forty (40) days of paid release time during the course of the school year in order to conduct Association Business. The Association shall reimburse the Board for the cost of any substitute required as the result of any such released time which exceeds forty (40) days during the course of the school year. 2. The following provisions were not bargained and have been included for informational purposes only: a. Because of the many responsibilities imposed on the President of the Association, and in order to enhance the quality of instruction in the classes taught by him or her and maintain continuity, the Board will provide the building to which the President is assigned with a full-time aide who is also a certified substitute teacher. b. The building principal and the President will work out a mutually agreed upon schedule for the use of the aide. c. The presence of this aide will not be used to justify absences in excess of those authorized by the terms of this Agreement.

  • Association Leave The Association shall be allowed to use up to 5 days of leave each school year for use by teachers who are officers or agents of the Association. The Association shall reimburse Unified School District 434 for the loss of use of the teacher taking such leave by paying the daily cost of a substitute teacher. The Association shall notify the Superintendent not less than 5 calendar days in advance of using such leave.

  • Employment During Unpaid Maternity Leave Where less than the 52 weeks Other Parent Leave is taken paid or unpaid, the unused portion of the leave cannot be banked or preserved in any way.

  • Unpaid Leave Accrued compensatory time off may be used at the employee’s discretion, with management approval, after exhaustion of 100% sick leave (No. 3 above). However, FLSA compensatory time off shall not be counted against the employee’s four (4) month (nine [9] pay period [720 hours]) family or medical leave entitlement. Therefore, any use of FLSA compensatory time off under this Section shall extend the employee’s family or medical leave by the total amount of FLSA compensatory time off used.

  • Unpaid Leaves Employees on unpaid leaves may not participate in the matching program while on leave.

  • Federation Leave A leave of absence for the president and a second position of the Federation shall be granted to any employee covered by this Agreement upon application by the Federation for the purpose of the employee serving as an officer of the Federation. The District shall continue to pay such employee(s) and provide benefits, with the exception of leave benefits, but will be reimbursed by the Federation for the cost of salary and fringe benefits. Upon return from such leaves, an employee shall proceed on the salary schedule as if s/he had been employed with the District each year of the leave. The Federation agrees to consider carefully each request for release time for Federation members. Although leaves for short terms without loss of pay may be granted upon approval by the Office of the Superintendent, the Federation shall reimburse the District for the cost of salaries and fringe benefits.

  • Unpaid Personal Leave Where an employee has exhausted all paid personal leave entitlements, they are entitled to take unpaid personal leave to care for members of their immediate family or household who are sick and require care and support or who require care due to an unexpected emergency. The employer and the employee shall agree on the period. In the absence of agreement, the employee is entitled to take up to two days (up to a maximum of 16 hours) of unpaid leave per occasion, provided the requirements of 7.2.5(a) and 7.2.5(b) are met.

  • Unpaid Leave of Absence If an employee is on an unpaid leave of absence, then vacation leave, compensatory time, or sick leave cannot be used for the purpose of maintaining eligibility for an Employer Contribution by keeping the employee on a State payroll for one (1) working day per pay period.

  • Vacation Leave on Retirement ‌ An employee scheduled to retire and to receive pension benefits under the Public Service Pension Plan Rules or who has reached the mandatory retiring age, shall be granted full vacation entitlement for the final calendar year of service.
