The Unused Leave Days clause defines how any accrued but unused leave is handled at the end of an employment period or leave cycle. Unused Leave Days. Unused leave days in Section 11.a. and 11.b. above are cumulative to a maximum of 240 days.
Unused Leave Days. Leave days shall accumulate to a total of forty-five (45) days. These days will be supported by a Board paid long term disability policy on each eligible employee. Upon termination or retirement after twelve (12) years of service, an employee shall receive a bonus payment equal to one (1) hour’s pay at the employee’s current hourly rate multiplied by the number of accumulated days.

The parties agree that any unused sick leave shall be permitted to accumulate toward the 180 day maximum.
Unused Leave Days. A SUPERINTENDENT who has been employed by the School District for ten (10) or more years, and who has accrued one hundred (100) sick days shall continue to earn sick days in accordance with Section B above; however, the Board agrees to pay $30.00 for each such sick day earned during a Contract year above the maximum of one hundred (100) days. Payment shall be made on the first scheduled pay date in July following the Contract year during which the sick days were earned and only if the SUPERINTENDENT is currently employed. A SUPERINTENDENT who has been employed by the School District for ten (10) or more years, either as an administrator, teacher, or some combination of both, shall be eligible to receive payment for up to one hundred (100) accrued but unused sick days (at the rate of $30.00 for each such sick day accrued) upon the SUPERINTENDENT’S voluntary termination, retirement or death. If at the time of the SUPERINTENDENT’S termination he or she is charged with any crime or with committing other misconduct, payment will be withheld pending resolution of the charges. If the charges are dropped or the SUPERINTENDENT is found innocent, the withheld payment will then be made.

Unused Leave Days. Any teacher who retires may convert unused leave days (10.02) into health insurance coverage and/or flexible spending account contributions according to the Section 5.01.

After fifteen (15) years of employment with the MISD, a person who retires into the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System and who has banked a minimum of 75 days in their personal leave bank, the MISD will reimburse that person $150.00 per day for each day over 75 days. If an employee uses six (6) or less sick days within a school year, then at his/her option, the employee will be reimbursed by the district up to four (4) leave days (any combination of personal business or sick days) at $100.00 per day.
