Unused Sick Leave Conversion. 11 At the completion of each fiscal year, each nurse, regardless of years’ 12 service, may convert unused sick leave into vacation leave at the rate of two 13 (2) hours of sick leave for one (1) hour of vacation. Unused Sick Leave Conversion. Any employee may elect, at the time of retirement from active service with the Employer and with ten (10) or more years of service with the county, to be paid in cash, for various defined percentages of the value, up to a maximum of one hundred twenty (120) days, of his or her accrued, but unused, sick leave credit, such payment to be based on the employee's rate of pay at the time of retirement. Such election must be made no later than ninety (90) days from the final date of employment. Payment for sick leave on this basis shall be considered to eliminate all sick leave credit accrued by the employee at the time. Such payment shall be made only once to any member. For those members hired prior to 7/1/2016, the schedule shall be: BALANCE OF SICK LEAVE CASH PERCENTAGE 1,250 to 1,500 hours 60% of 960 hours For those members hired after 7/1/2016, the schedule shall be: BALANCE OF SICK LEAVE CASH PERCENTAGE 1,250 to 1,500 hours 25% of 960 hours If a person dies during employment with the County Engineer, the same defined percentage as noted in this Article will apply and shall be paid to said employee's estate.

All conversions must be accomplished during the period of July 1st through July 31st of 26 each fiscal year, or at the time of voluntary termination. 28 4. Sick leave conversion options shall not apply to any nurse who is terminated or 29 discharged for cause.

This shall be done as follows: 1. Each full-time Deputy must maintain a minimum sick leave bank of 48 hours, to be reserved for sick leave. In no case, however, may this sick leave bank be less than twenty-four (24) hours. Example: an employee has an FTE of 0.75, their minimum sick leave bank is 36 hours (48 x 0.75 = 36). 2. Only sick leave accrued in the immediate prior fiscal year, less sick leave used in the immediate prior fiscal year, may be converted. 3. Sick leave may not be converted if the conversion will result in a negative balance. 4. Requests for sick leave conversion must be submitted to Payroll by the last day of the first full work week in August, or at the time of voluntary termination. 5. Sick leave conversion options shall not apply to any Deputy who is terminated or discharged for cause. 6. As applied to this Article, the fiscal year will end on June 30th.
Unused Sick Leave Conversion. 22.5.1 Employees covered under this Agreement shall have the privilege of unused sick leave conversion as outlined in Section 41j of the New York Retirement Law, the cost of which shall be borne by the Employer. Provided: A. Each employee must maintain a bank of sick leave of at least 80 hours, to be used for sick leave. B. Only sick leave earned in the immediate prior fiscal year, less sick leave used in the immediate prior fiscal year, may be converted, up to a maximum of 40 sick leave hours. C. All conversions must be noted on the June 30 timesheet or at termination. D. CSC shall provide a sick leave conversion notice.

In order to be eligible for this benefit, teachers who are to retire in June must notify the Superintendent of their intention no later than January 15th of the year in which they will retire. Members retiring effective July 1, 2008 and thereafter that wish to participate in the District’s health insurance plan in retirement must use their sick leave conversion benefits for the purpose of premium payment into retirement according to the contribution rates set forth in Article XX, §B(4). The District shall maintain a separate accounting of said monies credited to each employee. Annually, costs attributable to the payment of the employee’s share of health insurance premiums during retirement shall be recorded as a deduction from the sum credited in the accounting for each employee, until the balance is exhausted, at which time the retiree will himself/herself be billed and required to pay for his/her share of health insurance premiums. The District will provide annual statements to each retiree indicating the sums deemed remaining credited to the employee. If the employee dies prior to exhaustion of the balance credited to them, the retiree’s spouse or eligible dependents, during the period of COBRA coverage if elected, shall continue to have the costs attributable to the payment of the spouse’s share of health insurance premiums deemed paid in the manner described above. Upon completion of the COBRA period of coverage, any amount remaining in the employee’s accounting will be forfeited and revert to the District. Employees who are eligible to retire and do not elect to take health insurance into retirement shall receive payment for those unused sick leave days.

  • Sick Leave Conversion Sick leave accumulation in excess of 1,440 hours may be converted to paid vacation time at a ratio of two (2) hours of sick leave time for one (1) hour of vacation time, to a maximum of five (5) regularly-assigned workdays (not to exceed a total of forty (40) hours in any year. There shall be no conversion of unused sick leave in any amount at any time to any cash payment other than the above-described conversion to vacation time or severance pay in Article 13.

  • Sick Leave Usage 1. Sick leave may be used by an employee when sick, injured, or quarantined. Also sick leave may be used on the occasion of an illness in the employee's family, where a need can be shown. 2. In computing compensation payable for sick leave, the compensation paid shall be the amount the employee would earn during the sick leave period if working at their current rate of pay and work schedule without the inclusion of overtime earnings.

  • Payment for Unused Sick Leave (a) An employee with less than ten (10) years of FIU service who separates from FIU shall not be paid for any unused sick leave. (b) An employee who has completed ten (10) or more years of FIU service, has not been found guilty or has not admitted to being guilty of committing, aiding, or abetting any embezzlement, theft, or bribery in connection with State government, or has not been found guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction of having violated any State law against or prohibiting strikes by public employees, and separates from FIU because of retirement for other than disability reasons, termination, or death, shall be compensated at the employee's current regular hourly rate of pay for one-eighth of all unused sick leave accrued prior to October 1, 1973, plus one- fourth of all unused sick leave accrued on or after October 1, 1973; provided that one-fourth of the unused sick leave since 1973 does not exceed 480 hours. The compensation in this paragraph 8(4)(b) shall not be given to an employee who starts employment at FIU on or after July 1, 2006. (c) Upon layoff, an employee with ten (10) or more years of FIU service shall be paid for unused sick leave as described in paragraph b., above, unless the employee requests in writing that unused sick leave be retained pending re-employment. For an employee who is re-employed by the University within twelve (12) calendar months following layoff, all unused sick leave shall be restored to the employee, provided the employee requests such action in writing and repays the full amount of any lump sum leave payments received at the time of layoff. An employee who is not re- employed within twelve (12) calendar months following layoff shall be paid for sick leave in accordance with this Policy. (d) All payments for unused sick leave shall be made in lump sum and shall not be used in determining the average final compensation of an employee in any State administered retirement system. An employee shall not be carried on the payroll beyond the last official day of employment, except that an employee who is unable to perform duties because of a disability may be continued on the payroll until all sick leave is exhausted. (e) If an employee has received a lump sum payment for accrued sick leave, the employee may elect in writing, upon re-employment within 100 days, to restore the employee's accrued sick leave. Restoration will be effective upon the repayment of the full lump sum leave payment. (f) In the event of the death of an employee, payment for unused sick leave at the time of death shall be made to the employee's beneficiary, estate, or as provided by law.

  • Extended Sick Leave When sick leave extends for more than 25 consecutive working days, the appointing authority shall initiate the following procedure:

  • Paid Sick Leave For those jurisdictions that have passed or will pass legislation requiring Paid Sick Leave, Paid Sick Time will be billed back to Client at the straight-time bill rate for all hours taken by any Consultant assigned to Client. This section is not applicable until the effective date of such legislation has been reached.
