Unused Sick Leave Conversion. The City’s contract with the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) will allow unit employees to convert unused sick leave to service credit upon retirement.
Unused Sick Leave Conversion. Any employee may elect, at the time of retirement from active service with the Employer and with ten (10) or more years of service with the county, to be paid in cash, for various defined percentages of the value, up to a maximum of one hundred twenty (120) days, of his or her accrued, but unused, sick leave credit, such payment to be based on the employee's rate of pay at the time of retirement. Such election must be made no later than ninety (90) days from the final date of employment. Payment for sick leave on this basis shall be considered to eliminate all sick leave credit accrued by the employee at the time. Such payment shall be made only once to any member. For those members hired prior to 7/1/2016, the schedule shall be: BALANCE OF SICK LEAVE CASH PERCENTAGE 1,250 to 1,500 hours 60% of 960 hours For those members hired after 7/1/2016, the schedule shall be: BALANCE OF SICK LEAVE CASH PERCENTAGE 1,250 to 1,500 hours 25% of 960 hours If a person dies during employment with the County Engineer, the same defined percentage as noted in this Article will apply and shall be paid to said employee's estate.

In order to be eligible for this benefit, teachers who are to retire in June must notify the Superintendent of their intention no later than January 15th of the year in which they will retire. Members retiring effective July 1, 2008 and thereafter that wish to participate in the District’s health insurance plan in retirement must use their sick leave conversion benefits for the purpose of premium payment into retirement according to the contribution rates set forth in Article XX, §B(4). The District shall maintain a separate accounting of said monies credited to each employee. Annually, costs attributable to the payment of the employee’s share of health insurance premiums during retirement shall be recorded as a deduction from the sum credited in the accounting for each employee, until the balance is exhausted, at which time the retiree will himself/herself be billed and required to pay for his/her share of health insurance premiums. The District will provide annual statements to each retiree indicating the sums deemed remaining credited to the employee. If the employee dies prior to exhaustion of the balance credited to them, the retiree’s spouse or eligible dependents, during the period of COBRA coverage if elected, shall continue to have the costs attributable to the payment of the spouse’s share of health insurance premiums deemed paid in the manner described above. Upon completion of the COBRA period of coverage, any amount remaining in the employee’s accounting will be forfeited and revert to the District. Employees who are eligible to retire and do not elect to take health insurance into retirement shall receive payment for those unused sick leave days.

  • Sick Leave Conversion On January 1 of each year, an employee may convert up to a maximum of 30 hours accumulated sick leave at fifty percent (50%) cash value for the sole purpose of reimbursing the employee for medical costs. This conversion is subject to the following:

  • Unused Sick Leave The accrual of unused sick leave hours is unlimited. The City and the Union commit to the evaluation and establishment of a mutually beneficial non-use of sick leave incentive and pay-out policy. Until such time that a policy is established, accumulated sick leave shall be compensated as follows: Upon retirement from the City service, an employee shall be paid sixty percent (60%) of his accumulated sick leave, with the rate of payment based upon his regular pay at the time he retires. Upon the death of an employee, his beneficiary shall be paid sixty percent (60%) of his accumulated unused sick leave, with the payment based upon his regular pay at the date of his death.

  • Pay for Unused Sick Leave Unused sick leave not to exceed 70 days will be paid at the rate of $50 per day when the teacher retires or leaves U.S.D. 506 employment, provided the teacher has a minimum of 10 years of service in U.S.D. 506. Article VI: Activity Ticket Each teacher of U.S.D. 506 shall be issued an activity ticket, which shall be honored at all regular school functions held within the district. Said ticket shall not be honored at basketball tournaments and special events. Said ticket shall be honored for employee, spouse, and children who have not yet graduated from high school. The Board of Education will have an expectation that those teachers in attendance at school functions will assume a reasonable amount of general supervision as needed.

  • Sick Leave Usage A. Sick leave may be used for an employee or an employee's child, spouse or parent's illness or injury, hospitalization and appointment pertaining to health.

  • Payment for Unused Sick Leave a. An employee with less than ten (10) years of continuous University service, as defined herein, who separates from the University shall not be paid for any unused sick leave. For employees appointed on or before 1/7/03 University service includes continuous employment by the University or the State of Florida.

  • Unpaid Sick Leave The City Manager shall, upon the advice and recommendation of the City physician, grant unpaid sick leave for up to one (1) year upon application of any employee whose paid sick leave is exhausted. Any extension of such leave shall be subject to the Civil Service Board rules.
