Payment for Sick Leave. A Regular employee granted sick leave shall be paid for the period of such leave at the Regular employee’s basic rate of pay, and the number of days thus paid shall be deducted from the Regular employee’s accumulated sick leave credits up to the total amount of the Regular employee’s accumulated credits at the time sick leave commenced. Part-Time Employees are only entitled to sick pay for regular part-time shifts missed. Employees working casual shifts are not entitled to sick pay.
Payment for Sick Leave. (1) Any employee covered by this Agreement who has completed twenty (20) years of service with the Urbana Fire Department including time spent on the University of Illinois Fire Department or who has retired as a result of a disability, shall upon retirement or resignation from the department receive payment for accumulated sick leave in an amount equal to fifty percent (50%) of the accrual, such payment to be made on the basis of the employee's hourly rate of pay at the time of such honorable separation. In the event of a death of an employee while in the employment of the City, the provisions of this section shall be paid to his/her estate.
Payment for Sick Leave beyond the employee's cumulative sick leave credit shall be at the discretion of the Company.
Payment for Sick Leave. Conversion of sick leave to cash is not permitted and accrued sick leave is not payable upon termination. If a holiday or administrative leave falls during the time an employee is on sick leave, the holiday or administrative leave is charged as a holiday and not as sick leave.
Payment for Sick Leave. Each eligible employee who has used five (5) days or less of sick leave during the preceding calendar year may elect to receive pay for twenty-five percent (25%) of the sick leave earned during the preceding calendar year less the amount of such leave used during the same period. At the employee's option the payment for unused sick leave may be converted to equivalent vacation time. Employees shall express their preference no later than January 15 each year, and payment will occur no later than February 15 each year. When an employee elects to receive payment in cash or vacation time, his/her sick leave balance shall be reduced by the amount paid off in cash or converted to vacation. Xxxx leave not converted to vacation or cash will remain on the employee's credit. To be eligible for this provision, an employee must have been a full-time employee for two (2) years prior to the calendar year on which the pay for unused sick leave calculation is based. Effective January 1, 1998, any employee who retires from City service other than for disability reasons shall be entitled to receive pay for sixty percent (60%) of his/her accumulated sick leave at the effective date of his/her retirement. This section shall also apply to individuals who are still covered by the City's prior Police and Firemen's retirement fund. Effective upon ratification of this agreement, if an employee dies while on the City's payroll, his/her estate shall receive the above 60% cash out of his/her sick leave balance. This option is in lieu of the PERS credit option described in section 21.5 below. Cash buyout of sick leave shall be computed at the officer’s regular, straight-time, base rate of pay including any applicable longevity and/or educational incentive premiums.
Payment for Sick Leave. All payment for sick leave shall be made at the employee's base rate of pay.

It is understood that such cap is a limit on payment for sick leave upon retirement or death only and does not limit the accrual of sick leave as specified in section 10.4 (b). For the purpose of calculation for Section 10.5(a) and (b), a work day or a day shall consist of eight (8) or twenty-four (24) hours depending upon the basis upon which the Employee had accumulated said sick days or hours.

Payment for Sick Leave. Non-exempt employees will be paid their “normal hourly compensation” for each hour of paid sick leave used. “Normal hourly compensation” is the hourly rate that an employee would have earned for time during which the employee used paid sick leave. Employees are not eligible for any cash out of unused, accrued sick leave upon their separation of service from the City.
