VACATION & VACATION PAY. ‌ 16.01 Employees shall be entitled to vacations based upon their period worked as of December 31st of the previous year as follows: Period Worked Time Off Vacation Pay % of Gross Annual Earnings from the previous calendar Year Less than one (1) year continuous service. 1 week 4% One (1) year but less than five (5) years of continuous service. 2 weeks 4% Five (5) years but less than ten (10) years of continuous service. 3 weeks 6% Ten (10) years continuous service or more. 4 weeks 8% The parties agree that Gross Annual Earnings" includes vacation pay from the previous calendar year. 16.02 The date for determining the "period worked" is the employee's last hiring date. 16.03 On January 1 of each year, the Employer shall post a blank vacation schedule covering the period from March 15 of the current year to March 14 of the following year. Between January 1 and March 1 each employee shall have the right to indicate on this sheet the time during which she prefers to take vacation. 16.04 The complete vacation schedule shall be determined by the Employer between March 1 and March 15. The guiding factors shall be seniority and operation requirements. 16.05 The employer shall post the final schedule on or about March 15. This schedule shall not change except with the consent of the Employer, the stewards and the employee(s) affected. Vacation request received after March 1st will be approved on a first come first served basis, subject to operational requirements. Employees will be informed within two (2) weeks of their request as to whether their request has been approved. 16.06 Casual employees will be paid vacation pay on each cheque. Part-time and full- time employees will be entitled to withdraw vacation pay from their current vacation bank upon request. Requests shall be submitted in writing before the pay period end date. The Employer shall pay out any accumulated balance in the current vacation bank on the first pay period of the following year. The Employer will endeavour to have the pay stubs reflect employee vacation bank totals. In the interim the Employer agrees to provide vacation bank totals to employees at the start of each vacation year and upon written request thereafter. 16.07 Employees who have not scheduled two weeks’ vacation by September 30th shall have two (2) weeks scheduled for them by the Employer. Vacation time may not be carried forward from one year to the next.
