HOLIDAYS & HOLIDAY PAY. 12.01 Employees shall be entitled to receive an amount equal to four percent (4%) of their total wages in lieu of the following holidays: New Year's Day Labour Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Victoria Day Remembrance Day Canada Day Christmas Day B.C. Day 12.02 An Employee required to work on one of the above holidays shall receive overtime pay of one and one-half (1½) times his regular wages for all hours worked.

Three (3) floating holidays to be taken at each employee's discretion annually which must be scheduled with the employee’s Department Manager and taken prior to December 31st annually. Floating holiday leave shall be taken in minimum units of one-quarter hour. When any of the above holidays fall on a Sunday, the Monday following shall be observed as the holiday. When any of the above holidays fall on a Saturday, employees shall be entitled to a holiday on the preceding Friday unless the Board of Directors directs that eight (8) hours be added to each full-time employee's annual vacation leave. When any of the above holidays fall on a normal day off for a regularly scheduled employee, regardless of his/her work schedule (e.g., 5-8s, 9/80), an additional eight (8) hours shall be added to the employee’s annual vacation leave. (For purposes of this provision, any regular or probationary employee assigned prior to January 1, 2016, to a 9/80 work schedule shall have nine (9) hours credited to his/her annual vacation leave.)

HOLIDAYS & HOLIDAY PAY. For the purpose of this agreement, the following shall be recognized as holidays: New Year's Day, Alberta Family Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, the last working day before the Civic Holiday, Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, or days observed as such, or any additional Holiday(s) to be proclaimed in the future by the Federal or Provincial government as a Statutory Holiday to be celebrated by employees of Employers in the Province of Alberta. Should any of the foregoing holidays occur on Saturday or Sunday, the following Monday instead of such Saturday or Sunday shall be recognized and observed as the holiday in question, provided however, that when Christmas Day occurs on Saturday or Sunday, Boxing Day shall be observed the following Tuesday. The Company and the Union may, by mutual agreement, change the observance of any recognized holiday. All work done on any of the foregoing holidays, or days observed as such, shall be paid for at the rate of double time and, subject to the provisions hereinafter set forth in this Section, each employee shall, in addition to double time pay for work performed, be paid eight (8) hours straight time holiday pay. No work shall be done on Labour Day except where absolutely necessary to avoid hazard to life or property.
HOLIDAYS & HOLIDAY PAY. 12.01 For clarification purposes, it is the intent that holiday pay is paid on all monies that are taxable to the employee. Employees who have completed twelve (12) months of continuous employment from their date of hire (excluding temporary layoff) upon request shall be entitled to a minimum of three (3) consecutive weeks' vacation. Vacation periods will be arranged by mutual agreement between the employee and the Employer, it being understood no fare and travel time is payable. The recognized holidays are: New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, first Monday in August (British Columbia Day), Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and any day declared a public holiday by the Federal and/or Provincial Government. No work will be performed on Labour Day. All work performed on General Holidays shall be aid for at double time rates. In the event that any additional day or days are declared public or provincial holidays by the Federal and/or Provincial Government, then such holidays shall be recognized and the General Holiday pay shall be increased by one-half of one percent (0.5%) for each additional day. * SEE APPROPRIATE SCHEDULE When a General Holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the following Monday will be observed. July 1st, Canada Day, shall be observed on the actual day of the holiday, except Saturday or Sunday where the following Monday will be observed. When Christmas Day and Boxing Day fall on Saturday and Sunday, the following Monday and Tuesday will be observed. When a General Holiday falls on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, exclusive of Remembrance Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New year’s Day, then the holiday shall be observed on the nearest Monday and the actual day of the holiday shall be worked and paid for at the appropriate straight time rate. Work performed on the day upon which it has been agreed that the holiday will be observed will be paid for at double time rates. When working in a location where the Employer is prevented by the owner from working on a General Holiday, then the actual General Holiday will be observed.

Employees retain the right to refuse employment, scheduled or unscheduled, on the Statutory Holidays named in Article 12.01 without penalty. 12.03 Holiday Pay will be paid to employees on each paycheque.

Employees required to work on Boxing Day will receive overtime pay at time and a half for all hours worked. 12.03 Any other day proclaimed as a statutory holiday by either the Federal or British Columbia Governments will be recognized.
HOLIDAYS & HOLIDAY PAY. 8.1 Your entitlement to paid annual holiday is in accordance with the Working Time Regulations (current statutory entitlement is 5.6 weeks per year). Your holiday entitlement period will run over the Holiday Year. All holiday entitlement and pay MUST be taken during the Holiday Year or will be forfeited by you as un-taken holiday and Stellar Care will not be under any obligation to make any payment in lieu.
