Work Shortage. In the event of a work shortage or a reduction of operations, the Company and the Association shall consult for the purpose of considering the shortening of working hours and/or work week as an alternative to laying off employees. Seniority/Overtime Overtime work must be offered to employees by order of seniority subject to the following conditions: Employee must be employed by the branch and the specific department. Employee must be within the same trade and for which overtime is required. Preference will be given to the employee or employees already working on the job.   • Cash Shortages No employee may be required to make up cash register shortages unless he or she is given the privilege of checking the money and daily receipts upon starting and completing the work shift, and unless the employee has exclusive access to the cash register during the work shift and unless cash is balanced daily, except as specified below.
