Lunch and Break Periods. 20.04 Each employee whose workday consists of 7 hours or more is entitled to a 1-hour lunch break without pay, approximately mid-way through a workday. Variations to an employee’s standard lunch break may be addressed under Article 20.08 as part of an arrangement for flexible working hours. Each employee whose workday consists of 7 hours or more is also entitled to a paid 15-minute break at an appropriate time during the 1st and 2nd half of the workday. Breaks are to be taken at a convenient point in the flow of duties and employees are to ensure that breaks do not exceed the allotted time period. Paid break time cannot be accumulated and taken as time off.
Lunch and Break Periods. 33.1 The normal shift schedule for employees shall include an unpaid lunch period of one- half (1/2) hour to one (1) hour, depending upon the needs of the department involved.

(a) IT employees covered by this section will receive one one-hour lunch period composed of one thirty (30) minute period that is paid by the employer and one thirty (30) minute period which is not paid by the employer. These employees will receive no additional rest periods during their regular working hours.

When the requirements of the Service do not permit the taking of the assigned lunch period, the supervisor may assign another lunch period during the shift or shall credit the member’s overtime bank with one (1) hour at straight time. All banked hours for missed lunch periods shall be taken in time off only.
