00 - UNIFORMS. An Employer who requires an Employee to wear a uniform or other special apparel shall furnish the uniform or other special apparel and shall repair or provide similar services with respect to the upkeep of it (including regular cleaning), without charge to the Employee.

00 - UNIFORMS. 35.01 Members who are provided with uniforms are to wear their uniforms at all times while at work. The Company shall provide an initial allotment of uniforms for new hires at no cost to the designated Members. The initial allotment shall consist of the necessary uniform pieces required to outfit a Member for a period of two (2) years. After the two (2) years has expired, the Member shall reimburse the Company through payroll deduction, on a fifty/fifty (50/50) cost share basis for the replacement cost of the required uniform pieces. 35.02 At the discretion of Management, a Member who does not qualify for a uniform allotment may be provided with a uniform item or items, pursuant to the terms of the First Air “Approved Company Uniform Standards Manual”. Payment for such items may be made through a payroll deduction when applicable. 35.03 A Member whose job functions require him to work in a safety toe area as defined in the Canada Labour Code, shall be provided with a yearly one hundred and forty dollar ($140.00) allowance to contribute to the purchase of safety footwear. 35.04 Uniform pieces shall be replaced by the Company at the end of their useful life in accordance with the terms of the First Air “Approved Company Uniform Standards Manual”. 35.05 If any uniform item is damaged as a result of normal usage, or if any item wears out prematurely because of workmanship or defect, the Company shall repair or replace the item at no cost to the Member. 35.06 The Company shall provide clothes washing facilities for uniformed Members at each Home Base, unless already provided in staff housing. 35.07 In special circumstances and at Management’s discretion a non-uniformed Member may be reimbursed for dry cleaning costs associated with an item of clothing that was soiled at work in the performance of his duties, and where dry cleaning is the only effective method of cleaning the item.
00 - UNIFORMS. 18.01 Each new Employee shall receive from the Employer, free of charge in lieu of a clothing allowance, a complete uniform. 18.02 Any Employee’s uniform or uniform equipment as defined by the Chief, which may be damaged during the course of his employment, shall be replaced at the expense of the Employer, except where such damage is caused by negligence of the Employee. Any Employee’s personal non-uniform equipment which is required by him in his capacity as a police officer, which may be damaged as a result of a single episode during the course of his employment, shall be replaced at the expense of the Employer, except where such damage is caused by the negligence of the Employee, subject to the limitation that the Employer is only liable for an amount up to One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars per occurrence. 18.03 Claims for damaged equipment which the Employee asserts should be replaced by the Employer because it was damaged in the line of duty are to be presented to the Chief of Police. 18.04 All new hires shall be responsible for purchasing required clothing as required by the respective police academy. Upon successful completion of the academy, the Borough shall reimburse $2,000.00. Individuals who have completed the “alternate route” process are not entitled for retroactive reimbursement. Receipts must be provided before payment can be processed.

Five (5) pair of coveralls 34.02.1 In the event a uniform becomes damaged in the course of work, the City shall replace the damaged item. 34.02.2 The City will endeavor to provide uniforms to employees by September 1st of each year. 34.03 Exemption from wearing uniform: 34.03.1 If it is determined by a physician that there is a medical reason which prevents an employee from wearing a City uniform (i.e., fiber content), then such employee shall not be required to wear a uniform. To be eligible for this exemption, the employee must submit a physician's statement to his/her supervisor verifying the above. The City reserves the right to have the employee examined by the City physician (at the City's expense) at any time.
