- Accrual and Use of Vacation Leave. Employees will accrue 7/8 hours vacation per month, as of the 15th of the month, during the first year of employment. Employees will not be permitted to use vacation leave until completion of the probationary period. Employees with one or more years of seniority shall, as of January 1 of each year, be credited with the vacation leave the employee would normally accrue during that vacation year. If an employee leaves the service of the County having used more vacation than the employee would have been entitled to actually accrue, the value of such excess leave used shall be reimbursed to the County. Vacation must be used in increments of fifteen (15) minutes or more. In lieu of pay, Correctional Officers shall have the option of earning compensatory time at the straight-time rate. This compensatory time shall be used during the calendar year earned.
