Assignment of Responsibilities. The parties understand that, while hourly rate may be used in statistical calculations or to report the fulfillment of duties to governing agencies, graduate assistants who are employed as research, teaching or instructional assistants (Class codes 9181, 9182, 9183, 9184, 9550) are salaried employees. Graduate assistants employed in Class code 9185 are appointed as non-exempt hourly employees and will need to complete a time sheet. Time clocks shall not be used to record work hours. A. No employee shall be assigned employment responsibilities during a semester that exceed an average of ten (10) hours per week for one-fourth time; thirteen and one third (13.3) hours per week for one-third time; twenty (20) hours per week for a one half time appointment; or thirty (30) hours per week for a three-quarter time appointment. The same proportional relationship applies to all other FTE's. B. For the purposes of determining whether an assignment can be accomplished within the time limitations described herein, research and other activities that lead directly to an employee's thesis, dissertation, or other degree requirements need not be counted as part of the assigned workload.

Assignment of Responsibilities. A. A unit member is expected to perform teaching duties in accord with the requirements of the University and of the particular school or college to which the unit member is assigned. B. Responsibilities of a unit member shall include instruction and reasonable instructional-related responsibilities as assigned by the appropriate administrator. Unit members will be available to students for consultation and assistance as may be practicable considering space limitations. Where possible the University shall make reasonable efforts to assist unit members in obtaining appropriate facilities for performing instructional-related responsibilities. C. Unit members shall file with the appropriate administrator, in a reasonable and timely manner as directed by the University, an accurate and complete grade list for all students registered in the course(s). D. Unit members shall provide the University in a timely manner with full information necessary for payroll deductions, tax obligations and employment eligibility verification. E. Unit members shall submit to the department chair or department designee two (2) copies of written course syllabi for each course taught at least one day prior to the first scheduled day of classes. When conducted, two (2) copies of the written final exam for each course taught shall be submitted prior to the exam. A summary of the course content and the basis for grading shall be included in the course syllabus. Exceptions to the above may be granted by the appropriate administrator. F. Unit members are expected to be available to perform contracted academic obligations at the University during the period of employment. G. In the event that there is no faculty office space provided and/or no other appropriate university space is available, the expectation that unit members hold office hours may not apply. However, the obligation to be available to students for consultation and assistance remains a required faculty duty.

(2) The Secretary shall: (i) Provide technical assistance, con- sultation, and guidance to the Regional Director in reviewing a State’s applica- tion, to a State during program imple- mentation and development, and to mental health agencies, as appropriate;

No employee shall be assigned employment responsibilities during a semester that exceed an average of ten (10) hours per week for 0.25 FTE or twenty (20) hours per week for 0.50 FTE. The same proportional relationship applies to all other FTEs. Workloads greater than 0.50 FTE are inconsistent with the expectation that a graduate assistant is pursuing a full time course of study. Under special or occasional circumstances (e.g., during the summer term) a graduate assistant may carry a greater FTE assignment (not to exceed 0.75 FTE). All FSU work appointments are considered part of this cumulative load limitation. On-going cumulative workloads greater than 0.50 FTE should be scrutinized critically for financial impacts and any negative impact on a student’s academic progress. B. For the purposes of determining whether an assignment can reasonably be accomplished within the time limitations described herein, research and other activities that lead directly to an employee’s thesis, dissertation, or other degree requirements need not be counted as part of the assigned workload. Activities that shall contribute to this time limitation shall include all duties assigned by the department in relation to an appointment. All employee work assignments must be consistent with the classification title and class code of the graduate assistant and related to the employee’s degree program. C. Due to the Fair Labor Standards Act exempt status of the nature of the employment, the demands of work will fluctuate, and hours worked each week may vary. X. Xxx graduate teaching assistants assigned as the instructor of record, the employing department shall take into consideration factors related to the teaching assignment, including but not limited to, class size, credit hours, and previous experience as an instructor of record, when determining teaching assignments. Teaching assignments may include “other duties as assigned” that are relevant and consistent with the overall duties and responsibilities of the assignment. Assignments shall be communicated to the employee prior to the start of the appointment period, or as soon as practicable, subject to the conditions specified in Article 2.
