Assignment of Routes. When a new route or an existing route (AM, PM, or Mid- day) becomes available, the District may assign a substitute or rover to the AM or PM route for up to ten (10) workdays. After ten (10) workdays, the route shall be posted and all drivers may bid in accordance with their rights under this Agreement. The posting must remain up for three (3) workdays. The posting shall indicate if the route is permanent or temporary. If the route is temporary, the posting shall indicate the approximate duration when possible. The District shall not assign a regular driver to a substitute position unless it is an emergency situation on a day- to-day basis. If the District determines that a new or existing route will not be posted but absorbed into other existing route(s), it shall be done within the timelines set forth in this Section and a permanent time change shall be effective on the date of the assignment. In the event a route is not posted for bid, but instead is absorbed, the work shall be added to existing route(s) pursuant to Section

Assignment of Routes. A. Driver pay will be based upon actual time worked at the driver's hourly rate of pay plus the following: 1. Full-time drivers will be paid a minimum of four (4) hours per day worked. 2. Morning work time begins fifteen (15) minutes before pull-out and ends when the bus is parked. 3. Sufficient time to reach destination will be allotted by the Transportation Director in order for buses to arrive for the first dismissal on the route. The route will end fifteen (15) minutes after the bus is parked in order to meet federal and state mandates that all children have exited the bus and the bus is adequately prepared for the next trip. B. Driving assignments for the regular school year shall be chosen before the beginning of the school year by seniority beginning with the most senior driver. Assignments will be posted in the bus garage at least five (5) workdays before the day of selection. Anyone absent from this meeting may designate, in writing, another driver or the Transportation Supervisor to bid in his/her place. If a driver is absent and has not designated anyone to bid, he/she may be passed on the seniority list and assigned to any available assignment after bidding is completed. Should a driver not be able to attend this meeting day, he/she shall be required to use the appropriate leave. If a vacancy occurs after the initial assignment the vacancy shall be posted for bid and awarded to the senior bidding driver. Subsequent vacancies shall be assigned by the Transportation Supervisor or designee. C. When an extra route added to an original block bid conflicts with a driver's eligibility to bid on another block, he/she shall have the option to drop the extra route in order to bid on another block that is posted. The relinquished regular block and extra route, and all subsequent vacancies shall be reassigned by the Transportation Supervisor or designee. D. Driving assignments for all summer school routes shall be chosen, if feasible, before the end of the school year by seniority beginning with the most senior driver. No driver shall be awarded a second route unless everyone who has bid on a summer route has been awarded a route. Assignments that the Transportation Department has received shall be posted in the bus garage at least five (5) workdays before the last day of the regular school year. Assignment of Routes. 1. The Employer shall determine which buses will normally be assigned to which routes two (2) weeks prior to the start of each school year. The Employer will present to the Union a list of routes to be covered, indicating thereon the bus which the Employer anticipates will normally be assigned to each run and the expected time required to run said routes. 2. A regular route that is canceled or altered by 30 minutes or more shall be reposted. The displaced driver may select a route of a less senior driver only if the displaced driver would gain 30 minutes or more from the current reposted position. At that time the employees shall be entitled to exercise their seniority for preference of routes to which they wish to be assigned. 3. No employee shall have an aggregate assignment of greater than eight (8) hours and no driver shall be awarded more than one mid day, noon, or academic after school run that runs longer than four weeks until all interested drivers have one such run assigned to them. This would include any after school academic run that is added at any time during the school year and runs longer than 4 weeks. 4. Thereafter, during the school year, when a permanent vacancy occurs on any route, employees may exercise their seniority in bidding for such vacancy. Such vacancy shall be assigned to the bidding employee with the most seniority who is qualified and has the then present ability and physical fitness to satisfactorily perform the work without training. 5. It is expressly understood that the Employer reserves the right to disqualify a bidding employee or switch assignments of drivers at any time when, in the Employer's judgment, the safety and/or welfare of the school children requires such action. If the employee believes that such disqualification or switching of assignment was for capricious or unfounded reasons, the grievance procedure may be invoked.
Assignment of Routes. A. On Monday the week prior to the first day of school runs will be set out for preview. On Tuesday the week prior to the first day of school, a special meeting shall be held for the selection of routes, consisting of a basic package and a mid-day package, not to exceed eight (8) hours per day. 1. The basic package will consist of a.m. and p.m. runs. 2. The mid-day package may consist of any run beginning after the last school starting time and before the first school dismissal time. 3. The basic packages and mid-day packages shall be selected by seniority. Drivers absent will be allowed to delegate their selection to another driver (in writing), or they will be assigned the most time available for their seniority. 4. Basic packages are guaranteed two (2) hours in the a.m. and two (2) hours in the p.m. 5. All transportation employees hired prior to December 1, 2011, will receive insurance or in lieu of insurance stipend. Employees hired or transferred on or after December 1, 2011; refer to Article 23, Insurance. B. During the first thirty (30) minimum to forty-five (45) maximum calendar days, pay will be based on the hours selected or hours worked, whichever is greater. C. There will be a reselection of packages by seniority on or before November 1st. D. No posting of routes or bumping before the second selection and/or the last thirty (30) calendar days of school.
