Transportation Employees. [a] Bus Drivers Bus drivers shall be paid their regular rate of pay for all runs except field and activity trips for which they shall be paid on Table 9, Grade 11, Step 4. Drivers are required to take any requested in-district extra trip during the time frame of their established route and shall be paid a minimum of one hour call-out at regular pay if run extends beyond allotted time.
(i) Summer runs and year-round bus runs driven on a regular basis shall be paid a minimum two (2) hour call out time in the a.m. and p.m.
(ii) Bus drivers hired on regular contract, if coming from the substitute list, shall move to Step 2 on the appropriate bus driver lane. [b] Bus Assistants Bus assistants shall be paid a minimum two (2) hour call out time for a.m. and p.m. runs and a minimum one (1) hour call out time for kindergarten or midday runs. [c] Mechanics Transportation Department Mechanics required to work on District recognized holidays and/or for emergency call out such as stranded buses or similar unplanned emergencies shall be compensated for a two (2) hour minimum. Time worked under this provision shall be compensated at time and a half at the employee’s option of compensatory time or wages. [d] Daily authorized hours for bus drivers and bus assistants at the end of a school year will remain unchanged until November 1st of the following school year. On November 1st, the daily authorized hours will be changed to reflect the routes that have been assigned as of that date. From the beginning of the school year through November 1st, the Transportation Department will attempt to give additional work assignments to bus drivers and bus assistants if their authorized hours are greater than their actual assigned route hours. For any hours not made up by November 1st, bus drivers and bus assistants will continue to have the opportunity to make up those hours until May 15th. When assigning any extra duty work, priority will be given to those needing to make up time. Bus drivers’ and bus assistants’ paychecks may be adjusted for any hours not made up by May 15th. The Transportation Department will make every effort to make as many routes as possible available for selection by drivers and assistants prior to November 1st.
Transportation Employees. 20.1 Bus drivers shall be paid for actual time worked.
A. All bus drivers will be hired for a minimum of four (4) hours including one (1) hour for related duties. Related duties shall include but not be limited to the following:
1. Pre-trip inspection
2. Washing bus (1 time per month)
3. Cleaning bus at the end of route 4. Monthly inspection 5. Creation/submission of FEFP Reports
Transportation Employees. Transportation Department employees who 17 become trained as bus operators will move to the top of the substitute list.
Transportation Employees a. Drivers must report to their buses fifteen (15) minutes prior to the scheduled departure of their run to complete pre-trip checks and vehicle warm-up. This time will be used for pre-trip checks and vehicle warm-up. During inclement weather, the time for pre-trip checks and vehicle warm-up may, at the option of the Transportation Supervisor, be increased.
b. Drivers must be at their pick-up five (5) minutes prior to dismissal of students unless extenuating circumstances make this impossible.
c. Except in case of an emergency, all bus drivers must notify the Transportation Supervisor at least one (1) hour in advance if he/she is unable to drive.
Transportation Employees. A. Transportation employees shall meet with the Employer prior to the start of each school year for the purpose of bidding on bus routes. The Employer shall provide written notice of the intended date of said meeting not later than June 1 of the preceding school year.
1. Bus runs will be assigned on the basis of seniority with the most senior drivers bidding on available routes first.
2. In the event bus routes and/or their times are increased/decreased, or where there is a layoff, all bus routes will be reopened for bidding subject to the following limitations:
a. No bidding will transpire subsequent to the start of school for a period of six (6) weeks and then only if there is an adjustment in daily time on a drivers route which would have impacted the sequence in which drivers could have selected routes before the start of the school year under Section A(1) above.
b. Subsequent to any rebidding which may occur under Section A (2), where there is an increase or decrease in time on a route of at least thirty (30) minutes pay per day, rebidding will take place and reassignments will take immediate effect. Such rebidding will not occur more than one time in any sixty (60) calendar day period. Subsequent to any rebidding which may occur under Section A(2), where there is an increase or decrease on a route of less than thirty (30) minutes pay per day, changes in assignments will take place at the beginning of the second semester. No changes in assignments will be made in these instances during the second semester. In the event bus routes and/or their times are changed or reduced, all bus routes will be reopened for bidding except as follows:
a. No bidding will transpire subsequent to the start of school for a period of six (6) weeks and then only if there is an adjustment in daily time on a driver's route which would have changed the order in which the drivers initially selected the daily routes prior to the start of school (i.e., a less seniored driver acquires an additional 30 minutes and bypasses a more seniored driver, etc.); and
b. No bidding will transpire after the period set forth in subsection 1 immediately above unless there is a vacancy or an increase or decrease in the time for a route of at least thirty (30) minutes per day. Changes in route assignments in such instances will transpire at the beginning of the second semester.

Transportation Employees. Time and one-half will be paid to employees for all work in accordance with the following:
a. Time and one-half will be paid for all hours over forty (40) in one week, not including sick, personal business, or other leave time.
b. Overtime pay is 1.5 times the applicable rate.
c. Each employee will be limited to seventy (70) hours of overtime.
1. To facilitate employee and District planning, fall, winter, and spring sports will be bid as a unit prior to the beginning of each sport season. Employees bidding on a unit may exceed the overtime cap established above as a result of the bidding and awarding of this type of unit bid. Should a driver reach the cap during a sports season the remainder of that unit will be posted as an individual special. Representatives of the Association and the Board of Education agree to meet at the conclusion of each sports season to review the implementation of this section.
d. The District shall post in the transportation office each pay day the total accumulation of overtime for each driver. No driver shall exceed the maximum number of overtime hours allowed in c., above, unless the Transportation Supervisor requests that capped drivers bid on an available run. Drivers who bid specials which put him/her over the cap, shall have that excess deducted from his/her cap figure for the succeeding year.
e. Employees who submit a letter of retirement to the Board and upon Board approval of such retirement shall be able to accumulate up to one hundred twenty (120) hours of overtime for up to three (3) years prior to retirement.
Transportation Employees. Transportation employees are not required to work on school days cancelled due to inclement weather or for reasons beyond the school’s control. Drivers will receive pay for those days, which are not required to be made up in order for the school district to receive full state aid. Act of God days which must be rescheduled for the school district to receive full state aid shall be unpaid at the time of cancellation. Drivers will receive their normal rate of pay on the rescheduled day provided they work on that rescheduled day. It is within the school’s discretion to reschedule Act of God days. On days in which school is delayed and morning kindergarten and vocational run is cancelled, drivers with these runs will not be paid.

Transportation Employees. The sub list shall be developed as follows:
a. All drivers shall be called by seniority.
1. Any driver not scheduled to drive will be called for any available run, by seniority, when possible and practical.
2. High school and elementary “pick up” runs and high school and elementary “take home” runs shall be divided by a.m. and p.m. when assigning daily substitutes. Substitutes will be called by availability and seniority. All other runs shall be assigned separately to the most senior union driver or substitute union driver before it will be assigned to an OSW driver. OSW may be assigned to cover the available work until the return of the regular driver or the end of the week, whichever comes first.
3. All extra work will be assigned by seniority and ability at the discretion of the Transportation Supervisor.
4. If a senior driver is not called, they will be paid for the run. The dispatcher’s notes will be sufficient evidence of the attempt to call the driver. The dispatcher must leave a message of notification on voice mail and / or machine.
b. If a driver becomes unavailable at any time during the week, it is their responsibility to notify the Employer. The Transportation Secretary and/or Supervisor will assign substitutes according to seniority as soon as reasonably possible after notice of intended absence from the employee.
