Benefits on Leave of Absence. Benefits will not be earned or accrued when an unpaid leave of absence or an accumulation of unpaid leaves of absence exceeds 20 workdays in a calendar year. Time off pursuant to Article 2.10 (Time Off for Union Business) shall not be taken into consideration. Employees may maintain coverage for health care plans provided in this agreement by paying the employee's and the Employer's share of the premiums for such coverage in advance of the unpaid leave of absence.
Benefits on Leave of Absence. (a) Leave of Absence of Thirty (30)
Benefits on Leave of Absence. (a) Leave of Absence of Thirty (30) Days or Less Duration Employee(s) on leave of absence the duration of which is thirty (30) days or less shall continue to earn all benefits and increments provided by this agreement.
(b) Leave of Absence of Over Thirty (30) Days Duration Employees on leave of absence, except Education leave, the duration of which is more than thirty (30) days shall not accumulate or earn sick leave or annual vacation credits for the period of the absence greater than thirty (30) days and a new increment date shall be established for determination of increments

Time off pursuant to Clause 2.12 (Right to Refuse to Cross Legal Picket Lines) shall not be taken into consideration.
Benefits on Leave of Absence. For the balance of the leave taken pursuant to this Article, the service of an employee shall be considered continuous for the purpose of any pension, medical or other plan beneficial to the employee, and the employer shall continue to make payment to the plans in the same manner as if the employee was not absent. Casual employees shall not be required to be available for shifts if the employee’s unavailability is due to reasons related to leaves set out in this Article. The employer will not terminate casual employment or otherwise take punitive action due to unavailability for such reasons. Where casual employees are unavailable for shifts as a result of this Article, the employee shall provide the employer with notice.
Benefits on Leave of Absence. Unless otherwise specified, benefits will not be earned or accrued when an unpaid leave of absence or an accumulation of unpaid leaves of absence exceeds 20 workdays in a calendar year. Time off pursuant to Clause 2.10 - Time Off for Union Business shall not be taken into consideration. Employees may maintain coverage for health care plans provided in this agreement for the first complete month of their absence, by paying the employee's and the Employer's share of the premiums for such coverage in advance of the unpaid leave of absence. Coverage for unpaid leaves of absence under this article will cease thereafter but may be reinstated upon return to active duty. Any amount owing at time of termination for health care premiums during a leave of absence will be deducted from an employee's final pay.
Benefits on Leave of Absence. Where a nurse is on an unpaid leave of absence that is greater than one month, the following guidelines will apply.
(a) if the nurse elects not to continue the benefits outlined in Article 20, the benefit coverages cease on the last day actively at work.
(b) these benefits will recommence upon the first (1st) day of active return to regular employment with the exception of the dental plan. Proof of insurability will be required if the dental plan was cancelled. In any event, all coverages are subject to the terms and conditions of the master policy.
(c) extension of this benefit coverage is available to nurses who are on approved leaves of absence in excess of one (1) month provided the nurse pays one hundred percent (100%) of the premium cost monthly in advance of the beginning of every month except as modified by the Ontario Employment Standards Act.
(d) sick leave, vacation, benefit service eligibility, pension credit or progression through the wage grid will not accrue during the unpaid leave of absence but will remain at the amount held at the commencement of the leave except as modified by the Ontario Employment Standards Act.
(e) benefits for a nurse due to illness or injury will continue until a nurse ceases to be disabled or ceases employment with the Region provided the nurse maintains her share of the required premiums. All leaves of absence shall be requested in writing not less than two (2) weeks in advance of the required leave.
Benefits on Leave of Absence. For leave of absence of thirty (30) days or less duration, employees shall continue to earn all benefits and increments provided by this agreement. For leave of absence of over thirty (30) days duration, except education leave of more than thirty (30) days, the employee shall not accumulate or earn sick leave or annual vacation credits for the period of the absence, and a new increment date shall be established for determination of increments. The application of seniority to leaves of absence of more than thirty (30) days shall be in accordance with Article of this Agreement
Benefits on Leave of Absence. The Agency may agree to pay the premiums for the continuation of Life Insurance, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, and Health and Dental Coverage for up to a maximum of twenty- four (24) months. Long Term Disability Coverage is not available to employees on a leave of absence. This agreement is contingent upon such coverage being available from the insurance company and is valid only as long as such coverage is provided by the insurance company to an employee on a leave of absence. Approval will be provided on a case to case basis at the sole discretion of the Agency.
Benefits on Leave of Absence. (a) Employees on approved medical leave due to non-occupational illness or injury will have their benefit premiums continued for the period they are in receipt of sick pay, EI sick benefits (including the two (2) week waiting period) and on LTD.
(b) Employees on other leaves of absence will have their benefit paid for a two (2) month period.
(c) The Employee may choose to continue to be enrolled in the benefit plan beyond the above mentioned two (2) month period to the extent permitted by the Agency’s insurance carrier, with the Employee making arrangements to reimburse the Employer for the full premium cost.
