Central Sick Bank. Each administrator with this contract and beyond shall deposit two (2) days of sick leave from his/her sick leave bank into an Administrative Central Sick Bank. Additional day may be added voluntarily by individual administrators from their own sick days. Withdrawal may be made from the Administrative Central Sick Bank for personal illness and for:
Central Sick Bank. A Sick Bank shall remain in effect during the term of this Agreement. Each new bargaining unit member shall be assessed two (2) sick days at the beginning of the school year. In the event the Bank falls below fifty (50) days, each teacher shall be assessed one (1) sick day unless they have only one sick day accredited to them. In the event a member is not assessed, the member will be assessed the following school year (equivalent to number of days assessed on an annual basis). All persons becoming staff members after the start of the school year shall be assessed one (1) sick day for the Bank and thereafter treated as outlined in the previous sentence. The Sick Bank shall be administered by a committee of three (3) teachers appointed by the Association and three (3) representatives appointed by the Board of Education. In the event of a Sick Bank Committee deadlock, individual members may donate their own sick days to the member requesting Sick Bank. Applications for use of Sick Bank days must be approved by a majority vote of the Sick Bank board members. Eligibility shall be upon exhaustion of credited sick days. Use of Sick Bank days only will be allowed for the purposes specified in 16.4B. Any teacher that has used the Sick Bank for three (3) consecutive years will have a two (2) day waiting period for each requested use of the Sick Bank for the fourth year. Any teacher that has used the Sick Bank for four (4) consecutive years will have a three (3) day waiting period for each requested use of the sick bank for the fifth year. For any illness longer than three (3) days, the three (3) day waiting period will be waived if the teacher is hospitalized. Once a teacher has not used the Sick Bank for one (1) year, the waiting period will not apply. In a given year: Bargaining Unit using the Sick Bank for one day will pay back one day in the following school year; Bargaining Unit using the Sick Bank for two or more days will pay back two days into the Sick Bank the following school year. Bargaining Unit members who finish the year with more than 78 days may choose to donate their days over 78 to the sick bank in lieu of the compensation given.
Central Sick Bank. A. The Association will operate a Central Sick Leave Bank on a mandatory basis. The Association will establish a committee to administer the Central Sick Leave Bank and to provide the information whereby the Business Office will keep the records. The Executive Director of Human Resources will serve in the capacity of an adviser to the committee. The initial guidelines for the operation of the Central Sick Leave Bank have been developed jointly by the parties through collective bargaining. The Association shall make the Central Sick Bank guidelines available to each member within ten (10) days after completion of the guidelines. The Association will appraise members in a timely fashion of guideline changes thereafter. Central Sink Bank approval will be determined after medical leave and FMLA is approved by Human Resources. If FMLA approval extends beyond the contractual waiting period for Central Sink Bank, the member will not be penalized with their entrance to Central Sink Bank for the extended waiting period.
