Committeepersons. (a) In each district employees in the district shall be represented by one Committeeperson or when the Committeeperson is absent from the office a permanent Alternate Committeeperson who in each case shall be a regular employee on the active roll having seniority and working in the district. The Unit President shall notify the Labour Relations Officer Department in writing of the name of the Alternate Committeeperson. The Alternate Committee-person shall function when the Committeeperson is absent from the office. During overtime periods or weekend work the Committeeperson or if the Committeeperson is not working, the permanent Alternate Committeeperson shall be scheduled to work as long as there is work scheduled in the district the Alternate Committeeperson can do and any respective constituents are working. The Committeeperson will be notified of overtime or weekend work as far in advance as the circumstances in each case permit. The Committeeperson will, upon request, be advised of the nature of the scheduled work.
(b) Paragraph (a) is intended to provide the Committeeperson with the opportunity to represent employees in the district, provided the Committeeperson has the ability to perform the available work in a reasonably adequate manner.
(c) The employees on the second shift may choose a Committeeperson who will represent all of the employees on that shift. The employees on the third shift may choose a Committeeperson who will represent all of the employees on that shift. Management and the Union may provide for additional Committeepersons on the second and third shifts because of increased employment on these shifts or where the employees are in widely separated areas.
(d) Committeepersons during their working hours, without loss of time or pay, may in accordance with the terms of this Section, present grievances to the management representatives and investigate grievances after first obtaining permission of their Supervisor to do so. The Supervisor will grant permission to Committeepersons to leave their work for these purposes. The privilege of Committeepersons to leave their work during working hours without loss of time or pay is subject to the understanding that the time will be devoted to the prompt handling of grievances and will not be abused, and that the Committeepersons will perform the work to which they are assigned at all times except when necessary to leave their work to handle grievances as provided herein.
Committeepersons. The Employer agrees that the Stewards shall have the right to have the assistance of a Union representative when dealing with grievances as hereinafter provided.
Committeepersons. The Union shall designate one (1) Bargaining Committeeperson on day shift, one (1) Bargaining Committeeperson on afternoon shift and one (1) Bargaining Committeeperson for midnight shift. If the total plant bargaining unit population exceeds two hundred (200) employees, one (1) Bargaining Committeeperson, designated by the Chairperson, will be considered full-time and be compensated by the Company; in addition, if the total plant bargaining unit population exceeds four hundred (400) employees the Chairperson will designate one of the remaining working Bargaining Committeepersons as full-time on another shift and they will be compensated by the Company; if the total plant bargaining unit population exceeds seven hundred fifty (750) employees the remaining Bargaining Committeeperson will be designated as full-time on the remaining shift and will be compensated by the Company. Compensation will be at the rate of the highest paid production classification or skilled trades rate if holding a skilled trades classification. Committeepersons will be eligible to work overtime based on total overtime hours worked by the plant (Monday thru Friday) multiplied by 0.01 and divided by the current number of full time representatives. To be paid for such hours the representatives must be present in the plant for such hours. The Company will assure that the Union Representatives will be promptly notified of situations requiring his/her presence. Should any of the employment levels outlined above drop below or exceed the numbers specified in this section, full time representatives will be adjusted accordingly. Bank hours not utilized during the normal work week may be utilized on Saturday or Sunday provided the budgeted allotment is not exceeded. Committee hours are to be confirmed and approved by HR.
Committeepersons. The Union may assign responsibilities to the Committeepersons and will inform the Company of any specific roles (e.g.: benefits, safety, WSIB, etc.).
Committeepersons. Any committee person who comes in early or stays late for a meeting will be charged the applicable overtime hours for the duration of the meeting. Attendance sheets will be submitted to HR for overtime tracking. Any other employee who is attending a meeting before or after their shift will be charged the applicable overtime hours for the duration of the meeting and the Team Leader / Supervisor / Manager / HR should track hours on overtime canvassing sheet. To assure representation in weekend overtime situations, when ten (10) or more employees are working, if a regular Union Committeeperson is not scheduled to work overtime as part of the regular canvassing process, then four (4) hours will be allotted for Union representation. Such overtime opportunities will be distributed to the members of the Union Committee, as determined by the Union. Such Union Committeeperson will not be part of the regularly scheduled crew but will be assigned other duties by the Company, regardless of classification at their normal applicable rate. Any hours worked by a Committeeperson will be charged accordingly. If no Committeeperson is available for the overtime or there are less than ten (10) employees scheduled to work overtime, the Union will appoint a Union Representative from the employees scheduled to work and notify the Company.
Committeepersons. The Union shall be represented at Step 2 of the Grievance Procedure by Committeepersons selected by the Union.
Committeepersons. The Union shall have the right to assign alternate Committeepersons who will function as Committeeperson only when the Committeeperson is not in his zone or absent from his area on approved Union business. The Plant Chairperson and Com- shall receive time as required to carry out their duties in administering the Col- lective Agreement. This time shall be agreed and authorized by a member of Management, this authorization shall not be unreasonably withheld, and will not be abused by the Plant Chairperson or Committeeperson. During overtime periods or weekend work the Committeeperson or if the Committeeperson is not working, the permanent Alternate Committeeperson shall be scheduled to work as long as there is work scheduled in the district the Alternate Committeeperson can do and any respective constituents are working. The Committeeperson will be notified of overtime or weekend work as far in advance as the circumstances in each case permit. The Committeeperson will, upon request, be advised of the nature of the scheduled work.
Committeepersons a) The Company agrees to recognize five (5) Committeepersons as outlined in Appendix "B".
b) The Committeepersons will be allowed the fulltime of their shift for the purpose of facilitating orderly adjustments to any grievances, complaints, or disputes which may arise from time to time between the Company and the Union.
c) The Committeepersons will be paid at the rate of the highest paid skilled classification plus fifteen cents ($.15) per hour.
d) The Committeepersons shall lose no seniority in their former job or classification(s) and shall be returned to that classification(s) upon returning from office. They will be subject to the provisions outlined in Article VIII.
Committeepersons. 1. During the period of time a team member is serving as a Committeeperson, Chairperson, Shop Committeeperson or District Committeeperson, their hours will not be charged, nor will they show on any Equalization of Overtime Records.
