Department Stewards. 17.1 Department Xxxxxxx is a person elected or appointed by the Union members of his/her department, or sub-department, to represent the Employees of the department, or sub- department, in which he/she is employed.
17.2 The Employer acknowledges the right of the Union to elect or appoint one Xxxxxxx for each department, sub-department, to assist Employees in the presentation of their grievances to their xxxxxxx/women or immediate supervisor.
17.3 The Union acknowledges that Stewards, as well as other members of the Union’s committees and the Union’s officers, will continue to perform their regular duties on behalf of the Employer, and that:
(a) such persons (not more than one of the above plus the grievor) will not leave their regular duties without obtaining permission from their foreperson or immediate supervisor who will be given a reasonable explanation for the requested absence (e.g. to investigate a grievance) without violating Union confidentiality and
(b) when resuming their regular duties after engaging in duties on behalf of the Union the Xxxxxxx will report to his/her foreperson or supervisor immediately upon his/her return.
17.4 A Department Xxxxxxx will assist in the Grievance Procedure, as set forth in Article 15 of the Agreement, except that in the absence of a Xxxxxxx, the Chairperson of the Grievance Committee may act in his/her place. In the event of a grievance by a Xxxxxxx, the Grievance Chairperson will represent the Xxxxxxx with his/her grievance.
17.5 Time lost by a Xxxxxxx, or Chairperson of the Grievance Committee, during his/her normal hours of work as set out in Article 4 of the Agreement when authorized to be absent from his/her regular duties under Section 3 of this Article, shall not thereby disqualify him/her for premium rates under Article 5 of the Agreement to which he/she would otherwise be entitled.
17.6 The Union shall notify Human Resources in writing of the name of each Xxxxxxx and the Department(s) or sub-department(s) he/she represents before the Employer shall be required to recognize the Xxxxxxx.
Department Stewards. Department Stewards shall be granted release time from regular City duties to attend the following functions: To investigate and/or process a grievance only on the shift in the department(s) or section of a department(s) for which designated. To attend other meetings and trainings as approved by the Employee Relations Director or designee.
Department Stewards. A. All department stewards referred to in this Contract shall be regular civil service employees of the City.
B. Whenever in this Contract it is written “department xxxxxxx,” this will also mean the Chief Xxxxxxx.
Department Stewards. The Department Stewards, during their working hours, without loss of time or pay, may in their own department, in accordance with the terms of this section, investigate and present grievances to the Employer, upon having received permission from his/her supervisor to do so. The supervisor will normally grant permission and provide sufficient time to the Department Stewards to leave their work for these purposes subject to necessary emergency exceptions. The privilege of Department Stewards leaving their work during working hours without loss of time or pay is subject to the understanding that the time will be devoted to the proper handling of grievances and will not be abused; the Department Stewards will perform their regularly assigned work at all times, except when necessary to leave their work to handle grievances as provided herein. Any alleged abuse by either party will be a proper subject for a Special Conference. Discipline for such abuse shall be applied only after review by the Assistant Vice President of University Human Resources or his/her designee.
Department Stewards. The Union may elect or appoint one Department Xxxxxxx in stores employing six (6) or more full time employees covered by this Agree ment. They shall be, at all times, full time employees. There shall be no transfer of Department Stewards without prior discussion with the Union. In the event the Union disagrees, the issue shall be subject to the grievance procedure. The Employer shall be notified of the election or appointment of such Department Stewards.
Department Stewards. 24.1 A Department xxxxxxx is a person elected or appointed by the Bargaining Unit members to represent the Employees of the Bargaining Unit.
24.2 The Employer acknowledges the right of the Bargaining Unit to elect or appoint four (4) stewards to assist Employees in the presentation of their grievances to their immediate supervisor.
24.3 The Association acknowledges that stewards, as well as other members of the Association's committees and the Association's officers, will continue to perform their regular duties on behalf of the Employer, and that:
(a) Such persons (not more than one (1) of the above plus the grievor) will not leave their regular duties without obtaining permission from their immediate supervisor who will be given a reasonable explanation for the requested absence, and
(b) When resuming their regular duties after engaging in duties on behalf of the Association, the xxxxxxx and Employee will report to his supervisor immediately upon his return.
Department Stewards. 6.01 The Employer acknowledges the right of the Union to appoint or otherwise select Stewards, one of which would be the Union Chairperson. The responsibility of these Stewards is to assist employees in their respective Departments in presenting grievances to the Employers representatives(s.) The departments are to include the following: Housekeeping/ Laundry/ Houseperson Kitchen Le Café/ Restaurant/ Bar/ Room Service Maintenance Banquets Front Desk/ Reservations/ Guest Services
6.02 The Union will inform the Employer in writing of the identity of the Stewards and the Union officers. The Employer shall not be obliged to recognize such personnel unit it has been so informed.
6.03 The Union acknowledges that Stewards, members of the Health and Safety Committee, and Union Officers have regular duties to perform on behalf of the Employer, and that such persons will not leave their regular duties without obtaining permission of their Department Head, and will give reasonable explanation which may be requested with respect to their absence. In the absence of the Department Head, a pre-arranged alternative person will act on their behalf.
6.04 It is understood that Stewards and Union Officers will not absent themselves from their regular duties to deal with the complaints and grievances of employees (excluding Arbitration), and that in accordance with this understanding, the Employer will compensate such union representatives at their regular straight time hourly rate of pay for the time spent handling complaints and grievances of employees (excluding Arbitration) and attending meetings under the grievance procedure.

The Local Management will continue to Stewards in those plants where Stewards are presently In these plants there will be no more than one Xxxxxxx on each shift in each department. The Local Union agrees to give the Local Management in writing the names of the persons who will serve as members of the Grievance Committee and of Stewards, if any, and the departments they represent. The Local Union will keep the list up-to-date.
