Donation of Days. On the first full day of school in September, 1972, each teacher donated one half (1/2) sick day to the sick bank. Beginning with the 2010-11 school year, new members will donate one half (.5) of a day on the onset of their third year in the District. Members who have not yet donated a day, will donate one half (.5) of a day upon ratification of the Agreement. When the number of days in the sick bank drops below ten (10) days, more days may be requested by a 2/3 vote of the MDMEA Representative Council. The number of days donated will be limited to a maximum of one (1) day per year per teacher.

Donation of Days. Employees may donate one (1) day if they have a minimum of ten (10) days accrued after deducting the donation. If an employee donates sick leave days to another specific employee in a separate solicitation in an Individual Catastrophic Leave Account, this donation is not considered for eligibility in the Catastrophic Leave Bank. Any days donated to an Individual Catastrophic Leave Account should be used prior to use or exhaustion of the Catastrophic Leave Bank benefits. Any unused days for the specific employee will be held in an individual account for a period of five years or until the employee separates from the District. At that time, any unused days will be transferred to the Catastrophic Leave Bank.
Donation of Days. A sick leave bank started in September of the 2011 – 2012 school year with a one-time donation of fifty (50) days from the Norridge School District 80 Board of Education. Eligible bargaining unit members may join the bank with a donation of two sick days during the month of September. Upon being determined to be eligible by the committee, such employee shall have two (2) sick days deducted from his/her personal accumulation and irrevocably transferred to the bank. Membership in the bank shall remain in effect until a member resigns or until such time as a member refuses to contribute additional sick days as may be required by the Committee. Any bargaining unit member who is deemed eligible and chooses to join the Bank after initial date of inception must donate two (2) to the Sick Leave Bank. New members will not be permitted to withdraw from the Bank until one year after donating his/her days.
