Extra Driving Sample Clauses

Extra Driving. (a) Extra driving is defined as a temporary driving assignment of a run or runs normally assigned to another driver. Extra driving will be assigned as a total schedule, including all of the driver's shuttles. In the case of a regular driver with less than four runs, they can take available runs that will not interfere with their runs. Then a substitute can take the remaining runs. Note: A driver with less than four runs will not be allowed to take any run that will cause them to be late for their run. (b) Seniority employees who have indicated a desire to do extra driving shall have first opportunity before probationary, temporary or substitute drivers. (c) Extra driving assignments shall be distributed as equally as possible among those drivers who are qualified and available. (d) For equalizing purposes, when a driver does not accept extra driving when it is available, it is recorded as though the driver had driven, though without pay, and the driver's name will be moved to the bottom of the extra trip availability listing. A driver called back from layoff or a new driver shall be added to the bottom of the list and his/her hours will be equalized to the average number on the list. (e) The Director of Transportation, or his designee, shall maintain a yearly chart of extra driving which shall list all drivers and such chart shall be posted in the bus driver lounge. Notes: 1. Daily extra driving will continue to be assigned to drivers on the basis of lowest total accumulated extra driving from those drivers who have indicated availability for that driving on their extra driving availability forms. Example: A kindergarten pick-up run would be assigned to the driver with the lowest total accumulated extra driving on the list of available drivers for kindergarten pick-up runs. Notes: 2. Long term extra driving (extra driving anticipated to last five (5) or more consecutive work days) will be posted for two (2) days and assigned on the basis of highest seniority available driver bidding for the assignment. Such driving shall be included in the total accumulated extra driving for the driver awarded the assignment.

Extra Driving a. In order to obtain equity in the opportunities for hours of work the following procedure will be used. A list of all drivers will be posted in order by seniority with the most senior driver on the top of the list. For each extra trip, each driver will be asked, in order, to take the trip (Rotation Schedule). Acceptance or refusal of an extra trip will cause the employee’s name to fall to the bottom of the list. The employee must accept or reject the assignment in a reasonable amount of time. If all drivers on the list decline the assignment the Supervisor of Transportation may ask bus drivers off the list in rotating order and if no regular driver is available a substitute may be assigned. The current list showing the effect of accepting or rejecting extra trip assignments will be posted every Friday in a public place at the garage. b. The Supervisor of Transportation continues to reserve the right to schedule drivers at their discretion if a challenging trip is on the schedule (ie. length or difficult route). c. In order to monitor the equitable administration of this section the parties will meet on a monthly basis to review the number of hours offered and worked. d. Signup sheets will be posted for regularly scheduled trips (Crop, NCOC, Special Ed, etc.) and be assigned for the year by the Supervisor of Transportation. Seniority will be taken into consideration. e. Extra trip driving rates shall be paid at the driver’s regular rate from the time of departure to time of return. Extra Driving. A list of drivers will be posted in order by seniority. For each extra trip, each driver will be asked, in order, to take the trip (Rotation Schedule). Regular full-time drivers will have first right to refusal of extra trips even if a substitute driver must be hired to concurrently drive the regular driver’s run. Priority will be given, however, to drivers who do not work forty (40) hours in a week. The Supervisor of Transportation continues to reserve the right to schedule more experienced drivers to more difficult trips. Extra driving rate of pay shall be: Effective upon ratification of 2001-05 agreement $10.25 Effective July 1, 2002 Effective July 1,2003 Effective July 1, 2004 $10.50 $10.75 $11.00 When a regular (a.m. or p.m.), vocational, parochial or special run driver takes an extra trip during his/her contractual time, they will be docked the time they are away from their contractual run. Example: a.m. run 7:15 to 8:15; p.m. run 3:00 to 4:00. This driver took a trip to Albany. He/she ran their regular a.m. run, then left at 8:30 a. m. for Albany and returned at 7:30 p.m. The driver was gone for 1 hours. He/she will be paid for 10 hours as he/she has already been paid under contract for the regular p.m. run. Meal Allowance/Extra Driving - If a driver is gone for more than 3.5 hours on an extra driving assignment, a meal allowance will be paid for meals taken while away from Franklin. Original receipts must be submitted in order to be reimbursed. Maximum payment shall be $4.00 for meals occurring before 11:00 a.m., $6.00 for meals occurring after 11:00 a.m. but before 4:00 p.m., and $10.00 for meals occurring after 4:00 p.m.
Extra Driving. All driving other than regularly scheduled daily runs, with the exception of BOCES and Special Runs. Regular drivers will be eligible for extra runs as follows: Extra runs after the second morning bus run and before the first afternoon bus run or in excess of six hours in duration of any one (1) day will be filled in the following descending order: (a) regular bus drivers on a rotating basis by seniority; (b) substitute drivers on a rotating basis; (c) private contractors. It is understood that only one regular route driver will be eligible during any particular day for an extra run-in excess of six hours. All extra driving runs not covered by the above paragraph will be filled in a manner that least interferes with regular driver contract hours. In accordance with the above, the school district will offer drivers an opportunity to drive extra runs up to a total of a forty (40) hour work week. After drivers have achieved a forty (40) hour work week, waived all extra driving, or rejected the run, volunteer services will be permitted. A driver will label their trip upon returning to the garage. Management will reserve the right to retract this practice if it is abused, becomes too costly, or becomes cumbersome administratively.
Extra Driving. Bus drivers with the longest continuous service in the School District shall receive priority status when the eligibility list for extra bus driving is established. All drivers wishing extra driving duties, i.e., 4:10 buses, 5:30 buses, athletic trips, field trips, etc., shall sign up at the beginning of each school year. A schedule shall be made up of all drivers wishing extra assignments. The schedule should be set up so that all drivers have approximately the same number of runs a week in a two-week period. This should be a permanently set up schedule for the school year. List #2 shall include all drivers signed up for extra runs plus any drivers who regularly run athletic runs immediately after school. The list shall be set up in order of seniority. This list is for games, field trips, or any other busing immediately after school, after 5:00 P.M., or on Saturdays, Sundays, or days when school is not in session. Trips shall be assigned by seniority. Any driver refusing an extra driving assignment for any reason shall forfeit his/her opportunity for extra driving until list rotation provides him/her with another opportunity. If the Superintendent or his/her designee deems that one driver is more qualified for a certain trip than another, he/she shall have the sole, exclusive right to assign the more qualified driver. The driver assigned shall be credited with the trip, and the driver or drivers bypassed shall retain their position on the seniority list. The District will attempt to equalize the number of trips assigned over a two month period. All assignments shall be posted in the District garage.
