HealthLeave. 22 An application for leave of absence for reasons of personal health, in excess of time for which 23 sick leave benefits are due, should be supported by the written recommendation of a licensed 24 physician or health practitioner. 26 2. MilitaryLeave 28 The Board of Education will grant a leave of absence to permanent and probationary teachers 29 for the duration of active military service as defined in the California Education Code subject 30 only to presentation of satisfactory evidence of physical and mental fitness to serve the District 31 on return from military service. Such absence shall not affect in any way the classification of 32 the teacher. In the case of a probationary teacher, the period of such absence shall not count 33 as a part of the service required as a condition precedent to the classifying of such teacher as a 34 permanent teacher of the District, but such absence shall not be construed as a break in the 35 continuity of the service of such teacher for any purpose. 37 Certificated personnel who are members of the active military reserve program are encouraged 38 to take such military training during their vacation from school assignment. Military leave for 39 reserve training during the school year may be approved upon written request of the 40 commanding officer to the Assistant Superintendent, Certificated Human Resources, indicating 41 the necessity for such training at the specified time, knowing that the welfare of students is 42 involved. 44 Within six (6) months after the teacher honorably leaves such service or has been place on 45 inactive duty he/she shall be entitled to return to the position held by him/her at the time of 46 his/her entrance into such military service at the salary to which he/she would have been 47 entitled had he/she not absented himself/herself from the service of the school district. 49 The time spent in military service may count toward retirement under the California State 50 Teachers Retirement System. The Board of Education will make District payment to the 51 retirement system for those who make their contribution to the system either during or 52 immediately following the period of military service if permitted by law. 54 ArmedServiceMedicalExamination ~ A teacher may be paid for not more than two (2) days for 55 absence caused by written notice ordering him/her to report at a given time and place for 56 physical examination.   • Health Leave Any regular employee of the District may, at the discretion of the Board, be granted a leave of absence without pay for reasons of health, such leave to be specified for a period of not more than one year. Such leave may be extended in case of serious health conditions.

  • Family Medical Leave (a) An employee is entitled to family medical leave in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act.

  • Medical Leave Pursuant to applicable provisions of the Civil Service Rules, County Code, and other law, medical leaves of absence will be granted by the employee’s Department Head upon request only upon submission of a doctor’s certificate or other satisfactory medical evidence of the employee’s need for such leave.

  • Carer’s Leave An employee may use up to 10 days accrued sick days as carers leave to tend to the care for members of the employee’s immediate household.   • Medical Care Leave An Employee who is unable to make the necessary arrangements for maintenance of personal health care outside of scheduled work time, shall be granted time off with pay. Such time off shall not exceed sixteen (16) working hours per calendar year. Hours in excess of sixteen (16) hours per calendar year shall be deducted from the Employee's sick leave accumulation.

  • Medical Leave of Absence Where you have a medical leave of absence due to any medically determinable physical or mental impairment that can be expected to result in death or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than six months, and you have not returned to employment with the Company or an Affiliate, a Separation from Service has occurred on the earlier of: (A) the first day on which you would not be considered “disabled” under any disability policy of the Company or Affiliate under which you are then receiving a benefit; or (B) the first day on which your medical leave of absence period exceeds 29 months.

  • Religious Leave Religious leave shall be without pay unless the employee elects to use accumulated compensatory time off, vacation time, or floating holiday time. Denial of religious leave is appealable as provided elsewhere in this section.

  • BEREAVEMENT/TANGIHANGA LEAVE 15.1 The employer shall approve special bereavement leave on pay for an employee to discharge any obligation and/or to pay respects to a deceased person with whom the employee has had a close association. Such obligations may exist because of blood or family ties or because of particular cultural requirements such as attendance at all or part of a Tangihanga (or its equivalent). The length of time off shall be at the discretion of the employer.

  • FMLA Leave FMLA leave may be used for:

  • Accident Leave 22.1 Transport of injured employees - Where the accident is work-related and the injury sustained by the employee necessitates immediate removal to a hospital, or to a medical practitioner for medical attention and then to their residence or a hospital, or to their residence (medical attention away from the residence not being required), the employer is to provide or arrange for the necessary transport, pay all reasonable expenses for meals and lodging incurred by or on behalf of the employee during the period she/he is transported, and claim reimbursement from ACC.
