Leave for Professional Meetings. Leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority will be granted to nurses for the purpose of attending professional meetings that are designated by Management. All conferences shall be posted in advance on bulletin boards to enable interested nurses to apply and selection shall be made from among these applications. Selections shall be made on an equitable basis by Management.
Leave for Professional Meetings. Subject to prior approval by the appointing authority, each employee will be allowed a maximum of three (3) days per year without charge to leave credits to attend (a) conferences or seminars of recognized professional organizations, such conferences or seminars to be directly related to the employee’s profession or professional duties; and/or, (b) programs which are necessary for the employee to maintain or obtain licensure or accreditation in the employee’s position with the State. Absences under this provision may be restricted to five percent of the profession in the operating unit (e.g., institution, hospital, college, main office or other appropriate facility). Approval of such leave shall be at the discretion of the appointing authority. Such approval will be based on a determination by the appointing authority that (1) the activity to be undertaken will directly benefit the agency, and (2) the absence will not interfere with the proper conduct of governmental functions. Such leave shall not be cumulative and if not used shall be cancelled at the end of each year of this Agreement. Unused leave shall not be liquidated in cash at the time of separation, retirement or death.
Leave for Professional Meetings. Professional leave days will be allowed teachers for meetings and visits to other schools at the discretion of the Director of Human Resources. Such requests shall be in writing, using the appropriate form, at least three (3) days prior to the proposed leave day(s). The determination shall be based upon the professional growth needs of the teacher, contributions to the development of the profession, and the value to the school district. Such leave is also subject to budget controls (as will be the reimbursement for expenses while on such leave) and the availability of an appropriate substitute if needed.
Leave for Professional Meetings. Upon the prior written approval of the Superintendent, or his/her designee, a teacher may be granted time off with pay to attend professional meetings which are designed to improve his/her teaching practice. However, such time off, under the provisions of this subdivision, will not be granted for union business.

Leave for Professional Meetings. Subject to operational requirements leave of absence without pay may be granted for professional meetings not exceeding one week. Request for such leave shall be in writing with at least two (2) weeks' notice.

Requests to attend professional meetings and conferences shall be filed on the appropriate form by the employee with the administrator to whom the employee is responsible. The administrator’s recommendation shall be subject to approval by the appropriate Director.
Leave for Professional Meetings. 23.6.1 Employees may be allowed to attend instruction/curriculum-related professional meetings upon the approval of the Superintendent or his designee. Requests to attend such meetings will be made to the Superintendent in writing as far in advance as possible.
23.6.2 Employees may attend, in accordance with RCW 41.59, other types of professional meetings upon approval of the Superintendent or designee in accordance with the following criteria:
A. This time will be spent meeting or conferring with District representation and/or for reasons designed to enhance the working relationships between the Association and the District.
B. The leave must be requested by the Association for a specified purpose which is in accordance with 23.7.2 A above. The request will be in writing and state the employees involved. This leave time will not be used for Association business, which is not in accordance with 23.7.2 A above.
C. This leave is available with the cost of a substitute for the employee on leave to be reimbursed to the District by the Association.
23.6.3 The Association agrees to hold the District harmless and reimburse the District for any costs or payments incurred or made under this section which are found to be contrary to law.
23.6.4 Those association members who are involved extensively at the local, regional, state level, or national level, will annually provide their supervisor and the Human Resources Office by September 30 of each year a calendar of known Association leave days and anticipated activities.
Leave for Professional Meetings. A. Each employee, subject to the prior approval by his or her supervisor and the appropriate center or institute director, may be allowed, without charge to other leave credits, up to a maximum of three days per contract year, to attend conferences of recognized professional organizations directly related to the employee’s professional responsibilities at NDRI. The grant of such leave shall be subject to the reasonable operating needs of NDRI and shall not be reviewable in the grievance procedure established by Article 17 of this Agreement beyond Step
