Temporary Leaves. Teachers required by official orders to attend National Guard Duty, other military reserve duty, or jury duty during the contract year and for a period not to exceed fourteen (14) contract days shall receive pay for such period equal to their regular pay, less the amount received for the services performed. Extended time requirements under this section may be granted by the School Board after application, in advance, to the Superintendent.

Temporary Leaves. All sick leave and personal leave must be used prior to salary deduction being implemented. Emergencies for Temporary Chargeable Leave shall be granted by the superintendent and reviewed by the Board.
Temporary Leaves. CPEs shall be granted the following temporary leave of absence with pay during each work year. Such leave of absence shall not be cumulative from year to year.
Temporary Leaves. Various forms of temporary leave are specifically provided in District policy, most of which qualify for continuance of salary during the period of leave. Some are allowable but without pay. a. If a unit member is absent temporarily for any reason other than those specified, a full day’s pay for each day of such absence will be deducted. This will be the annual salary of the individual divided by the number of days in the legal definition of the school year or period of annual contract as provided in the Education Code and District policy, unless the form of assignment and contract identifies a daily rate. b. Unless otherwise specified, the lengths of time allowed for the various forms of temporary leave are provided for full-time unit members. Unit members serving less than full-time shall be entitled to pro rata allotment of leave time under temporary leave as defined in the section where it applies to these unit members. c. Temporary leave without pay for any reason not coming under the provisions of those specified by policies of this District may be granted upon request of a unit member at the discretion of and subject to the approval of the Superintendent/President.

Five (5) consecutive days’ leave of absence without loss of pay will be granted upon request when a death occurs in the immediate family; immediate family is defined to include husband, wife, father, mother, son, daughter, husband’s parents, wife’s parents, siblings, grandparents and a significant other sharing common domicile. Said leave shall include either the day of the death or the day of the funeral. C. Five (5) consecutive days’ leave of absence with pay may be granted when individual circumstances are such that a close relative other than those defined as members of the immediate family should be considered as a member of the immediate family. Said leave shall include either the day of death or the day of the funeral. X. Xxx (1) day’s leave of absence without loss of pay may be granted upon request to attend the funeral of a relative or a close friend. There shall be a maximum of three (3) 1-day leaves in one year; employees will have to use a personal or vacation day for subsequent bereavement leaves in excess of three (3). X. Xxxx (4) days’ leave of absence without loss of pay may be granted upon request to care for a member of the immediate family who is ill. Temporary Leaves. For new employees who start after the commencement of the normal contract year, all leaves will be prorated based on the number of days in the normal contract year of said employee’s employment category. For currently contracted employees all leaves are available on the initial day of the contract year. However, should employment terminate prior to the end of the contract year, all leave will be prorated based on the number of days worked. Any leave taken in excess of the prorated amount will be reimbursed to the district as a deduction from the employee’s last paycheck. The smallest portion of a day that may be used for leave purposes is one fourth (1/4) of an employee’s contracted day.
