Leave for Union Function. Upon notification to the Employer, an employee elected or appointed to represent the Union at Union functions shall be allowed a leave of absence with pay and benefits and without loss of seniority. The Union shall reimburse the Employer for receipt of such pay.

Such leave must be applied for at least two weeks (2) in advance, and all leaves for all Employees shall not exceed thirty (30) working days per year.

Employees elected or appointed by the Union to attend conventions and conferences of the Union, shall be granted leave of absence without pay provided the Employer is given fourteen (14) days notice if the leave is for more than three (3) calendar days or seven (7) days notice if the leave is for three (3) calendar days or less. Where less than the required notice is given, the Employer will endeavour to comply with the request subject to the operational requirements of the Employer. No more than one
(1) person per program location and no more than 3 persons per division at any one time. When any change in program locations or divisions modifies the number of people allowed Union Leave at the same time the Employer shall discuss with the Union and agree upon a mutually satisfactory alternative. When an Employee is on Union leave, the Employer shall normally fill the vacancy for the duration of the leave.

(a) A leave of absence without pay but without loss of benefits as referred to in Article 29 shall be allowed Employees to attend conventions seminars and committee meetings of the Union, its affiliated or chartered bodies, and any labour organizations to which the Union is affiliated. Such leave shall be limited to thirty (30) days per employee per year for the bargaining unit as a whole. In no case will there be less than one (1) Employee in attendance to staff the workplace.
(b) The Union shall notify the Executive Director of the names of its members and alternates at least two (2) weeks before such leave begins. The Employer agrees to waive this requirement when the Union is confronted with unexpected, unscheduled leave requirements. In no case will there be less than one (1) Employee in attendance to staff the workplace.
Leave for Union Function. Upon notification to Canadian Union Promotions Inc., up to two (2) employees elected or appointed to represent the Union at Union functions shall be allowed a leave of absence with pay and benefits and without loss of seniority. The Union shall reimburse Canadian Union Promotions Inc. for receipt of such pay.
Leave for Union Function. Upon request to the Employer, an employee elected or appointed may be granted an unpaid leave of absence without loss of seniority to attend Union conventions or seminars provided the Employer receives at least six (6) weeks written notice on the appropriate form.

Upon notification to Union Digital Inc., up to two (2) employees elected or appointed to represent the Union at Union functions shall be allowed a leave of absence with pay and benefits and without loss of seniority. The Union shall reimburse Union Digital Inc. for receipt of such pay.

Leaves of absence without loss of seniority and service shall be granted upon two (2) weeks written request to the Employer, where possible, to not more than two (2) employees who are elected or appointed to represent the Union at Union functions, for a period not to exceed twenty-five (25) days annually and no more than five (5) consecutive days. The Employer shall pay the employees their normal wages, benefits and payroll taxes while on such leave, and the Union shall reimburse the Employer. The Employer may grant such leave of absence to additional employees, subject to reasonable operational and scheduling requirements.

Such approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. The Employer shall pay the employee their normal wages and all other benefits and pay the required payroll taxes for any shifts the employee was scheduled to work during such leave. The Union shall reimburse the Employer for receipt of such pay within ten (10) business days from receipt of the invoice. It is understood that the maximum amount of Leave for Union Function for all employees will be thirty (30) days per calendar year, exclusive of any committee work.
