Level I - Informal Resolution. 19.3.1.1 Any unit member who believes he/she has a grievance shall present the grievance orally to the immediate supervisor within fifteen (15) days after the grievant knew, or reasonably should know, of the circumstances which form the basis for the grievance. Failure to do so will render the grievance null and void. The administrator/supervisor shall hold discussions and attempt to resolve the matter within ten (10) days after the presentation of the grievance. It is the intent of this informal meeting that at least one personal conference be held between the aggrieved employee and the immediate supervisor.

Level I - Informal Resolution. 12.3.1 The employee shall meet with his/her supervisor to discuss the potential grievance in an attempt to resolve it informally. The grievant has the right to a representative at the informal level. If the potential grievance is not resolved at this level, the employee may proceed to Level II. 12.3.2 Every attempt will be made to resolve a grievance at the lowest level possible. Resolutions reached at this stage shall be final but shall not be precedential nor inconsistent with this Agreement. 12.3.3 A grievant who is not under the supervision of a principal or immediate supervisor may initiate a grievance by filing the grievance form at Level III with the Associate Superintendent, Personnel Support Services, or his or her designee. If the grievance relates to an alleged violation, misapplication or misinterpretation of the Agreement with potential impact upon all bargaining unit members, or two or more bargaining unit members with more than one supervisor or principal, the grievance may be initiated by the filing of a grievance form at Level III with the Associate Superintendent, Personnel Support Services, or his or her designee.

Level I - Informal Resolution. 12.4.1.1 Any unit member who believes she/he has a grievance shall present the grievance in writing to the immediate supervisor, within thirty (30) days (excluding non-contractual days between semesters) after the grievant knew, or reasonably should have known, of the circumstances which form the basis for the grievance. Failure to do so will render the grievance null and void. The administrator shall hold discussions and attempt to resolve the matter. This provision shall not be read to prohibit or in any way limit open discussion between a unit member and immediate supervisor regarding potential violations of the Collective Agreement. Nor shall this provision limit the right of a unit member to have CCFT representation during these open discussions regarding potential violations. 12.4.1.2 The written information provided by the grievant shall include: (a) a description of the specific grounds of the grievance, including but not limited to names, dates, and places necessary for a complete understanding of the grievance, (b) a listing of the provisions of this agreement which are alleged to have been violated, (c) a listing of specific actions requested of the District which will remedy the grievance. Three (3) copies of the grievance form shall be completed by the grievant. The grievant shall submit one (1) copy to the immediate supervisor, one copy to the CCFT and retain the third copy. 12.4.1.3 The immediate supervisor shall communicate the decision on the grievance to the grievant, the Director of Personnel and Human Resources, and the CCFT Grievance Officer (provided the CCFT is representing the grievant in the grievance), in writing within fifteen (15) days after receiving the grievance. 12.4.1.4 Within the above time limits either party may request a personal conference.
Level I - Informal Resolution. Within twenty-eight (28) days of the time the aggrieved person(s) knows of the event or condition which gave rise to the grievance, the aggrieved shall meet to discuss the grievance issue with the immediate supervisor and/or other managers involved. During this meeting, the grievant shall state the specific Article and Section of this Agreement which he/she alleges was violated or misapplied. The aggrieved may have a designated representative of the Faculty Association present as a participating observer at the meeting. The objective is to resolve the matter informally without a permanent record. The Faculty Association and the District encourage the parties to a potential grievance to resolve their differences informally before entering the formal Levels of this procedure. A decision at Level I shall be provided within ten (10) working days of the Level I meeting.
