Librarians and Counselors. When school is in regular session, librarians and counselors shall work a seven and one-quarter (7-1/4) hour day and shall be compensated as per Schedule B of this Agreement. It is understood that said compensation reflects work performed one week before and after the normal school year. Librarians and counselors shall have time each day to be used for preparation, however, this time shall not be a regularly scheduled block of time.
Librarians and Counselors. Librarians and Counselors shall adhere to a minimum of a forty (40) hour work week scheduled as appropriate in accordance with the contract length approved by the Board of Trustees. A. Librarians (40 hours per week). Full-time Librarians shall work forty (40) hours per week on College activities. Up to five (5) hours per week may be used for College service/professional development, as approved by the appropriate Administrator. Professional activities in which Librarians participate during the remaining hours will be determined during conferences with the appropriate Administrator and evaluated annually. Work schedules, goals, special projects and events shall be developed by the Librarian in collaboration with and approved by the supervising Administrator to ensure that adequate coverage is provided to meet student needs. Librarians may teach classes when approved by the Xxxxxxx. i. The primary responsibilities of a Librarian include but are not limited to library science/information, literacy curriculum and maintaining the professional integrity of content, collections and services of academic libraries. ii. Librarians are responsible for providing instruction and general student assistance in the use of print and online library resources as well as in the creation of new tools to enhance access to information to promote information literacy. Instruction includes, but is not limited to, reference desk assistance, seminars, workshops, online tutorials, portions of College-sponsored conferences or in-service opportunities as assigned by the supervising Administrator. Services will often be required at the reference desk, by phone or email and through in-person consultation. iii. Scheduled duties as assigned by the appropriate supervising Administrator are priority, and any changes must be approved by the supervising Administrator. iv. Librarians are eligible to teach extra course teaching assignments if they are qualified for the teaching assignment and provided that the teaching assignment does not interfere with the Librarian’s regular duties. All teaching assignments including, but not limited to, embedded teaching assignments and credit courses are reviewed with and approved by the supervising Administrator. v. Librarians are responsible for ensuring library services are provided to meet the needs of students. vi. The regular annual workload for a Librarian (10- month) or Counselor (10-month) shall be five (5) days per week, which may include Saturday or Sunday, for a period of ten-months (August 15 through June 15). Unless otherwise agreed to by the individual concerned, all employees in Counselor (10-month) or Librarian (10- month) positions must have two consecutive days off in each week, at least one of which must be a Saturday or Sunday. Such employees may be scheduled between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 8.3.2.2. The regular workday for a Librarian (10- month) or Counselor (10-month) shall be seven (7) continuous hours per day, excluding a meal period (e.g. 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., lunch, and 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., or 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., lunch, and 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. 8.3.2.3. The regular annual workload for the position of Librarian (12-month) and Counselor (12-month) shall be five days per week, Monday through Friday, during the twelve (12) month professional appointment period; the five work days may include Saturday or Sunday for employees hired on or after July 1, 1992. Unless otherwise agreed to by the individual concerned, all employees in Librarian (12-month) and Counselor (12-month) positions hired on or after July 1, 1992 must have two consecutive days off in each week, at least one of which must be Saturday or Sunday. Librarians (12 month) and Counselors (12 month) may be scheduled between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 8.3.2.4. Librarians and Counselors. The normal full-time workload for faculty librarians and counselors is 40 hours per week and shall consist of the duties listed in 10.1.2 and 10.1.3, respectively. 10.2.2.1 Librarians’ and Counselors’ schedules will be set by the appropriate administrator in each area.
Librarians and Counselors a. Librarians and Counselors may be initially appointed to an academic or College year assignment. Reassignment from or to the academic or College year may be arranged by mutual agreement. His/her schedule may be altered by mutual agreement between the employee and the appropriate Xxxx. b. Librarians and Counselors appointed to an academic year assignment will not be required to work any day the College is officially closed, nor shall they be required to work the Spring vacation period. c. Counselors will provide evening advisement (5:00‑7:00 p.m.) two evenings per week during the Fall and Spring semester. Compensation for these hours is based on an hourly rate determined from the overload rate for the counselors (60 hours). d. Librarians and Counselors assigned on a College year basis shall accrue vacation time at the rate of 5.75 days per quarter (September, December, March, June) which is scheduled subject to the approval of the Supervisor and Xxxx. e. In the year in which the employee leaves the service of the College for any reason, including death, the employee or his/her beneficiary shall be paid for all unused vacation time. With the approval of the Xxxx and his/her Supervisor, ten (10) vacation days may be carried over from one year to the following year only. For formal study or other unusual circumstances the President may approve as many as twenty (20) days to be carried over for the next year only.

  • Counselors A. Newly ordered file cabinets for Counselors will have locks. No Counselors shall be held accountable, unless through their own negligence, for the loss of school records unless there is a secure place for storage. B. Counselors, although generally working the same overall hours as teachers, shall be allowed to use flexible hours if it improves their service to pupils. C. The duty of maintaining school attendance records and of coordinating school transportation services shall not be assigned to Counselors. D. Counselors shall not be required, except in an emergency, to handle homeroom assignments, schedule or score large-scale tests, prepare school master schedules, complete entries and withdrawals and schedule conferences between classroom teachers and parents. E. Every effort will be made, in accordance with the BCPSS Master Plan adopted and updated by the Board, to provide school counselors with access to computers, telephones, private consultation space and clerical services. F. The Board will make every effort to reduce the case-load of Counselors. In furtherance of this objective, a committee shall be established consisting of three (3) members selected by the Union and three (3) members selected by the Board to review the current status of the effort. G. The Board and the Union will form a committee with three (3) members appointed by each to review the utilization and effectiveness of school counseling services and make recommendations to improve services to students. One additional task of the committee shall be to develop a counselor evaluation instrument. H. Substitutes shall be hired for counselors out for long-term illness. I. Counselors shall have access to clerical services. J. Formal observation of counselors shall only be done by the Office of guidance Services personnel, holding National Counselor Certification (NCC) credential and/or a Maryland Professional Counselor’s License.

  • Specialists Persons working within a juridical person who possess uncommon knowledge essential to the commercial presence’s production, research equipment, techniques or management. In assessing such knowledge, account will be taken not only of knowledge specific to the commercial presence, but also of whether the person has a high level of qualification referring to a type of work or trade requiring specific technical knowledge, including membership of an accredited profession.

  • Training and Professional Development 11.1 The Employer will develop and maintain an employee training and development plan and provide such plan to the Union upon request. Staff training is intended to provide an opportunity for classified staff employees for training sponsored by the University Training and Development and the UW Medical Centers Organizational Development and Training. Education/Professional Leave is intended to facilitate employee access to continuing education opportunities. Training and educational/professional leave may be used for the purpose of improving job performance, maintaining and increasing proficiency, preparing staff for greater responsibility, or increasing promotional opportunities within the framework of staff positions available at the University. 11.2 Any release time for training for employees accepted for such classes shall be in accordance with the Executive Order (currently No. 52) governing this matter. In the event that two or more employees request the same training period and supervision must limit the number of persons who may participate at one time due to work requirements, the selection will be made on a mutually agreeable basis within the department. 11.3 The training program is a proper subject for discussion by either departmental or University-wide Joint Union/Management Committees. 11.4 If the Employer requires an employee to receive training, reimbursement will be provided in accordance with the University travel rules. Employee attendance at Employer required training, either during or outside working hours, will be considered time worked and compensated in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement. 11.5 Employee attendance at training not required by the Employer and not covered by Executive Order 52, either on approved leave from or outside of working hours, will be voluntary and not considered time worked.

  • Specialist A dentist who focuses on a specific area of dentistry, including oral surgery, endodontia, periodontia, orthodontia and pediatric dentistry, or a group of patients to diagnose, manage, prevent or treat certain types of symptoms and conditions. Spouse: The person to whom the Subscriber is legally married, including a same sex Spouse. Spouse also includes a domestic partner. Subscriber: The person to whom this Contract is issued. UCR (Usual, Customary and Reasonable): The cost of a dental service in a geographic area based on what Providers in the area usually charge for the same or similar medical service. Us, We, Our: BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York and anyone to whom We legally delegate performance, on Our behalf, under this Contract. Utilization Review: The review to determine whether services are or were Medically Necessary or experimental or investigational (including treatment for a rare disease or a clinical trial).   • Contract for Professional Services of Physicians, Optometrists, and Registered Nurses In accordance with Senate Bill 799, Acts 2021, 87th Leg., R.S., if Texas Government Code, Section 2254.008(a)(2) is applicable to this Contract, Contractor affirms that it possesses the necessary occupational licenses and experience.

  • Professional Development and Training The Company shall pay for or reimburse the Executive for any reasonable professional development or training.

  • Professional Development 9.01 Continuous professional development is a hallmark of professional nursing practice. As a self-regulating profession, nursing recognizes the importance of maintaining a dynamic practice environment which includes ongoing learning, the maintenance of competence, career development, career counselling and succession planning. The parties agree that professional development includes a diverse range of activities, including but not limited to formal academic programs; short-term continuing education activities; certification programs; independent learning committee participation. The parties recognize their joint responsibility in and commitment to active participation in the area of professional development.

  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATIONAL IMPROVEMENT A. The Board of Education agrees to pay the actual tuition costs of courses taken by a teacher at accredited colleges or universities up to three courses per two (2) year fiscal periods from July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2008 and July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2010 respectively, except as follows: 1. No teacher may be reimbursed for courses taken during the first year of teaching in Vineland. 2. Teachers taking courses in the second and third years of employment in Vineland will not receive remuneration until tenure has been secured. The remuneration will then be retroactive and will be paid to the teacher in a lump sum within sixty (60) days after the teacher has secured tenure. 3. All courses must be pre-approved by the Superintendent or his designee subject to the following requirements: (a) A teacher must provide official documentation that he/she has obtained a grade of B or better; (b) Reimbursement shall be paid only for courses directly related to teacher’s teaching field which increase the teacher’s content knowledge and are related to the teacher’s current certification, as determined by the Superintendent or his/her designee in his/her sole discretion; no reimbursement shall be paid for courses leading to a post graduate or professional degree in a field other than education or teaching. Further, effective September 1, 2010, all newly hired teachers shall not be eligible for reimbursement until they are tenured, and they shall not be eligible for retroactive reimbursement upon gaining tenure for courses taken prior to being tenured. (c) The maximum total payments to be made by the Board shall not exceed $130,000.00. Courses shall be applied for no earlier than the following dates: Summer Session - April 1 Fall/Winter Session - June 1 Spring Session - October 1 Courses must, as set forth hereinabove in this sub-article 18.A.3, be pre-approved by the Superintendent or his designee, prior to the teacher commencing the course(s); and (d) Teacher taking courses shall sign a contract requiring them to reimburse the Board for all tuition paid for a course if the teacher shall voluntarily leave the employ of the Board within one (1) full school/academic year of completion of said course, except that reimbursement shall not be required when the teacher shall voluntarily leave the employ of the Board due to a significant, documented life change. 4. Tuition reimbursement costs shall be a sum not to exceed the actual cost of college credits charged in an accredited public State college/University of the State of New Jersey. B. When the Superintendent initiates in-service training courses, workshops, conferences and programs designed to improve the quality of instruction, the cooperation of the Vineland Education Association will be solicited. Notwithstanding the above, the initiation of in-service training courses, workshops, conferences and programs shall be determined solely at the discretion of the Board. C. One professional leave day may be granted to a teacher upon request, according to the following guidelines: 1. The professional day may be for attendance at a workshop, seminar or visit to another school for the expressed purpose of self professional improvement for the job. 2. The request shall arrive in the office of the Superintendent of Schools at least ten (10) working days prior to the date requested and shall be reviewed by the immediate supervisor prior to submission. The Board reserves the right to deny a professional leave day before or immediately following a holiday or on a day which by its nature suggests a hardship for providing a substitute. 3. No more than two teachers from any one elementary school or from any one department in the secondary schools may be granted a professional leave for a given day. 4. The teacher may be required to submit a report to the Superintendent of Schools, Assistant Superintendent, supervisor (s), principal and staff regarding the activity of the professional day. 5. Costs incurred by the teacher for the professional day authorized under this Section shall be the teacher’s responsibility. 6. A maximum of 90 professional leave days may be authorized for the school year which shall be apportioned as follows: elementary, 35; grades seven and eight, 20; and high school, 35. D. If the Board initiates a teacher’s attendance at a professional workshop, seminar or visit, the expenses shall be the responsibility of the Board. Further, this day shall not be subtracted from the 90 professional leave days granted to teachers of the Association. E. The Board agrees to pay the full cost of courses taken by secretaries related to skills and knowledge improvement when such courses are required and approved by the Board. F. The Board and the Association agree that it is important to communicate when developing and implementing current and future learning technologies, including but not limited to distance and on-line learning.

  • TEACHERS AND RESEARCHERS 1. An individual who is a resident of a Contracting State immediately before making a visit to the other Contracting State, and who, at the invitation of any university, college, school or other similar educational institution, visits that other State for a period not exceeding two years solely for the purpose of teaching or research or both at such educational institution shall be exempt from tax in that other State on any remuneration for such teaching or research. 2. This Article shall not apply to income from research if such research is undertaken primarily for the private benefit of a specific person or persons.

  • Community Involvement The Grantee will facilitate and convene a Community Task Force as one means of developing collaboration among the Grantee, affected residents, and the broader community. The Grantee also will provide information to keep the Community Task Force fully apprised of the planning and implementation of revitalization efforts. The Community Task Force shall be comprised of affected public housing residents, local government officials, service providers, community groups, and others. The Community Task Force will provide advice, counsel and recommendations to the Grantee on all aspects of the HOPE VI development process, including shaping the goals and outcome of the Community and Supportive Services Plan. Community Task Force participants also will disseminate information throughout the community about the Grantee's revitalization efforts. The Grantee's responsibilities with regard to the Community Task Force include: (1) convening and participating in the Community Task Force and other advisory groups; (2) ensuring that regular meetings of the Community Task Force are held to apprise participants of the status of the development process and to solicit comments, opinions, advice, and recommendations on the planning and implementation of the Grantee's revitalization efforts; and (3) if requested by HUD, entering into a memorandum of understanding with the members of the Community Task Force setting forth the manner and frequency of task force meetings, the method (if any) for designating resident and community participants, and the issues that the task force will discuss and develop.
