Orientation and In-Service Programme. 20.01 (a) The Employer recognizes the need for programmes to assist Nurses' professional growth. To this end, the Employer will endeavor to provide:
Orientation and In-Service Programme. 10.01 The Home shall provide a Home Orientation Programme of six (6) tours of duty: two (2) regular (7.5 hours) days which includes a MedReceive Orientation day, two (2) extended tour (11.25 hour) days, two (2) extended tour (11.25 hour) nights, and one (1) regular tour (7.5 hour) day for education to all nurses.

Before assigning a newly hired nurse in charge, the Home will provide orientation to the Home. It is understood that such nurse may be assigned to any tour as part of her orientation programme. Nurses recalled from lay-off under Article 10.05 may be provided any orientation determined necessary by the Home. A request by such a nurse for orientation shall not be unreasonably denied. Both the Home and the Association recognize their joint responsibility and commitment to provide, and participate in, in-service education. The Association supports the principle of its members' responsibility for their own professional development and the Home will endeavour to provide programmes related to the requirements of the Home. Available programmes will be publicized. When a nurse is on duty and authorized to attend any in-service programme within the Home and during her regularly scheduled working hours, she shall suffer no loss in regular pay. When a nurse is required by the Home to attend courses outside her regularly scheduled working hours she shall be paid for all time spent in attendance on such courses at her regular straight time hourly rate of pay.
