Personal Leave Procedure. Personal leave and any extension 14 thereof shall be granted in the sole discretion of the Hospital. A written request for 15 personal leave shall be submitted at least thirty (30) calendar days in advance of the 16 desired leave or, in the case of emergencies, as early as possible. A personal leave of 17 absence shall not be in excess of 30 days, but may be extended for successive periods 18 of up to 30 days each in accordance with the provisions of Section 1 above, with the 19 written extension request being submitted at least two weeks in advance or, in case of 20 emergency, as early as possible. The total period of such leave and any extensions 21 shall not exceed 12 months. Prior notice of fourteen (14) calendar days may be 22 required from each nurse returning from an authorized personal leave of absence.

Personal Leave Procedure i.) Each employee who has served more than one (1) school year in Pemberton Township shall be granted three (3) days’ personal leave with pay during the school year. Each employee who has served more than at least one (1) semester but less than (1) school year in Pemberton Township shall be granted one (1) day personal leave with pay. ii.) This leave shall be non-cumulative. iii.) Each personal leave request must be made directly to the employee’s building principal or immediate supervisor forty-eight (48) hours prior to the desired time off, and is subject to the Superintendent’s or his/her designee’s approval, which shall not be unreasonably withheld. If a request is made less than forty-eight (48) hours prior to the desired time off, the granting of same shall be discretionary with the Superintendent or his/her designee. iv.) Not more than two (2) percent of the persons in any employment category will be excused on the same day, except in cases involving religious holidays or time off indicated by statute. v.) Personal days which have not been taken during the school year shall be added to the employee’s accumulated sick leave provided for in Article XI, Section A.

The Hospital Center will simultaneously notify the Association of any leave or extension granted and its duration.
