Professional Opportunity Leave. Definition: An opportunity leave is a leave granted in order that a full-time faculty member may accept a position which will result in the full-time faculty member rendering more effective service to the school district upon his/her return. A. Length of Leave Leave may be granted for a maximum of one academic year.

Professional Opportunity Leave bargaining unit member may request a professional opportunity leave for a period not to exceed ten (10) days at the end of the school year, under the following conditions:
Professional Opportunity Leave. 13.6.1. The District may grant leaves with full pay to unit members for a maximum of ten (10) days per semester for professional opportunities such as grants, fellowships, consultant positions, or specialized teaching sponsored by professional organizations and governmental agencies. 13.6.2. The leaves shall be approved by the Chancellor and the President provided the unit member has received notification of their selection and has filed a written application with the Chancellor via the President stating the nature of the opportunity, the sponsoring agent, the dates, and how regular duties will be carried out. 13.6.3. If compensation is received from the sponsoring agent in excess of the cost of tuition, travel, and living expenses, the unit member's salary shall be decreased by a commensurate amount.
Professional Opportunity Leave. A regular full time teacher may request a professional opportunity leave for a period 32 not to exceed ten (10) days at the end of the school year, under the following 33 conditions:
Professional Opportunity Leave. 10 A regular unit member may request a professional opportunity leave for a period 11 not to exceed ten (10) days at the end of the school year, under the following 12 conditions: 14 a. It must be apparent that a true professional growth opportunity exists for the 15 unit member and the District, and that the leave is necessary in order to take 16 advantage of it. 18 b. The immediate supervisor must endorse the written request if he/she concurs 19 with the request. If the immediate supervisor does not give an endorsement of 20 the written request, the case may be presented to the Assistant 21 Superintendent, Educational Services, for additional review. 23 c. An adequate substitute must be available. 25 d. The proposed growth-in-service activity must be directly related to the area of 26 assignment of the teacher. 28 e. The unit member must have prepared grade summaries up to the date of the 29 leave, and lesson activity outlines for the balance of the semester shall have 30 been prepared. 32 f. Final examinations shall be prepared for the use of the substitute. 34 g. Non-teaching personnel receiving leave shall properly conclude their year’s 35 work to the satisfaction of the immediate supervisor before leaving.   • Professional Leave Professional leave without pay will be granted to full-time and regular part-time Nurses who are elected to the College of Nurses to attend regularly scheduled meetings of the College of Nurses. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Nurses who are elected to the RNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Practical Nurses who are elected to the RPNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings.

  • Professional Development Leave A. Policy. Professional development leave shall be made available to employees who meet the requirements set forth below. Such leaves are granted to increase an employee's value to the University through enhanced opportunities for professional renewal, educational travel, study, formal education, research, writing, or other experience of professional value, not as a reward for service.

  • Education Leave If required by the Hospital, an employee shall be entitled to leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority and benefits to write examinations to upgrade his or her employment qualifications. Where employees are required by the Hospital to take courses to upgrade or acquire new employment qualifications, the Hospital shall pay the full costs associated with the courses. Subject to operational requirements, the Hospital will make every reasonable effort to grant requests for necessary changes to an employee's schedule to enable attendance at a recognized up-grading course or seminar related to employment with the Hospital."

  • Medical Leave Pursuant to applicable provisions of the Civil Service Rules, County Code, and other law, medical leaves of absence will be granted by the employee’s Department Head upon request only upon submission of a doctor’s certificate or other satisfactory medical evidence of the employee’s need for such leave.
