SABBATICAL AND PROFESSIONAL LEAVE. Section 1. Desiring to reward professional performance and encourage independent research and achievement, the Board shall xxxxxx a policy which encourages and permits teachers to plan and take sabbatical leaves. Upon recommendation by the Superintendent or his/her designee from central office, and approval of the Board, a sabbatical leave shall be granted for approved scholarly programs, whether or not carried on in an academic institution, when the following conditions are met.

SABBATICAL AND PROFESSIONAL LEAVE. A. Employees with three years of regular service with the College may apply for professional leave (i.e., full or partial reduction of teaching or work assignments). Professional leave shall be unpaid and may not exceed one year, absent approval by the College President in his exclusive discretion. During the term of any professional leave, the employee is prohibited from engaging in secondary employment or similar business activities and must instead focus his or her efforts on professional development activities. The College retains the right to grant or deny professional leave in its sole discretion.

  • Professional Leaves 1. Professional Leaves are to be used by an employee to gain knowledge for the position contracted through Bath Local Schools. The employee must request Professional Leave through the employee kiosk. Upon approval, the employee may be permitted to attend the Professional Meeting and will be paid at the regular rate.

  • Sabbatical Leaves 49. Members taking their first Sabbatical Leave after a probationary period at The University of Western Ontario shall receive 90.0% of their Base Salary; Members taking their second or subsequent Sabbatical Leave from The University of Western Ontario shall receive 85.0% of their Base Salary.

  • Professional Leave Professional leave without pay will be granted to full-time and regular part- time employees who are elected to or appointed to the College of Nurses or the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario or the Registered Practical Nurses’ Association of Ontario to attend regularly scheduled meetings of the College of Nurses or the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario or the Registered Practical Nurses’ Association of Ontario subject to the following limitations:

  • Sabbatical Leave The purpose of a sabbatical leave is to enhance professional development, support department/unit goals, and/or meet the instructional, service, or research priorities of the university.

  • Medical Leave of Absence Where you have a medical leave of absence due to any medically determinable physical or mental impairment that can be expected to result in death or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than six months, and you have not returned to employment with the Company or an Affiliate, a Separation from Service has occurred on the earlier of: (A) the first day on which you would not be considered “disabled” under any disability policy of the Company or Affiliate under which you are then receiving a benefit; or (B) the first day on which your medical leave of absence period exceeds 29 months.

  • Sabbatical Leave Committee Shall consist of the following:

  • Professional Learning A. School-based Professional Learning

  • Medical Leaves of Absence When recommended by an employee's personal physician in writing, a medical leave of absence for a three (3) month period will be granted by the Sheriff. Such leave may be extended for a like three (3) month period or shorter period, within the sole discretion of the Sheriff, up to a maximum of one (1) year. Such extension, if granted, shall be based upon the written certification by the employee's physician that the continued illness or disability precludes the employee from working and the continuation of the leave of absence is necessary. Such leave, up to a maximum of three (3) months, if granted, will be allowed and credited as continuous county service, i.e. seniority continues for the three (3) months only. The employee shall be entitled to his former position or a position for which he is able and capable of performing upon return to work. A medical leave of absence shall be without pay and other fringe benefits, except an employee may use his accumulated sick leave time and accumulated vacation time to avoid loss of wages during such leave.

  • Professional Improvement Leave A teacher may be granted leave to be used for the teacher's professional improvement. Professional improvement days may be approved by the superintendent and used for the purpose of:

  • Educational Leave of Absence Leaves of absence may be granted up to six (6) months under the above provisions only if the course would be beneficial to both the University and the employee.
