Salary Step Progression Clause Samples
The Salary Step Progression clause establishes the rules and criteria for advancing an employee's salary within a structured pay scale. Typically, this clause outlines how employees move from one salary step to the next, often based on factors such as years of service, satisfactory performance evaluations, or completion of specific training. By providing a clear framework for salary increases, the clause ensures transparency and fairness in compensation, helping to motivate employees and manage expectations regarding pay advancement.
Salary Step Progression. 11.2.1 An employee must have received an overall rating of “Satisfactory” on his/her most recent performance evaluation to receive any salary step advancement.
11.2.2 On the beginning of the pay period closest to January 1 each year, employees who received overall satisfactory performance rating and who were paid a minimum of 1,040 hours in the previous twelve (12) months (prorated for part-time employees) will receive a step until the top step is reached.
Salary Step Progression. 9.3.1 An employee who meets the eligibility requirements in 9.2 of this Section will advance one salary step at the beginning of the pay period nearest to January 1 each year up to Step 10 (nine-year step).
9.3.2 An employee who meets the eligibility requirements in 9.2 of this Section and who has completed fifteen (15) or more calendar years of service in the District will advance one
(1) salary step at the beginning of the pay period nearest to January 1 each year, not to exceed Step 11 (fifteen-year step).
9.3.3 An employee who meets the eligibility requirements in 9.2 of this Section and who has completed twenty (20) or more calendar years of service in the District will advance one
(1) salary step at the beginning of the pay period nearest to January 1 each year, not to exceed Step 12 (twenty-year step).
9.3.4 Years of classified service in the District and the City of St. ▇▇▇▇ will be recognized in step placement and step advancement.
Salary Step Progression. 1. An Officer who earns an evaluation score of Effective or higher shall, as of his/her anniversary date, move to the next salary step.
2. An Officer who earns an evaluation score below Effective shall be held on their current salary step.
Salary Step Progression. 10.5.1 An employee who meets the eligibility requirements in 10.4 of this Section will advance one (1) additional salary step up to Step 6 (five year step).
10.5.2 An employee who meets the eligibility requirements in 10.4 of this Section will advance one (1) additional salary step on the first pay period in July following the beginning of ten (10) calendar years of service in the District, not to exceed Step 7.
10.5.3 An employee who meets the eligibility requirements in 10.4 of this Section will advance one (1) additional salary step on the first pay period in July following the beginning of fifteen (15) calendar years of service in the District, not to exceed Step 8.
10.5.4 An employee who meets the eligibility requirements in 10.4 of this Section will advance one (1) additional salary step on the first pay period in July following the beginning of twenty (20) calendar years of service in the District.

b. Step Progression Cap
Salary Step Progression. At the beginning of the first full pay period in July, full-time employees will progress one step up to Step 6 (five-year step) provided they were paid a minimum of 1,040 hours on the payroll in the previous year (minimum hours requirement is prorated for part-time employees).
7.5.1 At the beginning of ten (10) calendar years of service in the District, a full-time employee may be granted an increase of one (1) additional salary step on the first pay period in July, not to exceed Step 7.
7.5.2 At the beginning of fifteen (15) calendar years of service in the District, a full- time employee may be granted an increase of one (1) additional salary step on and the first pay period in July, not to exceed Step 8.
7.5.3 At the beginning of twenty (20) calendar years of service in the District, a full- time employee may be granted an increase of one (1) additional salary step on the first pay period in July, not to exceed Step 9.
Salary Step Progression. 19.2.1 An employee must have received an overall rating of “Satisfactory” on his/her most recent performance evaluation and been paid for a minimum of 1,040 hours in the previous twelve (12) months to receive any salary step advancement. Part-time employees must complete a pro-rata number of hours in order to qualify for a step progression (i.e., a half-time employee must complete five hundred twenty (520) hours to qualify for a step progression).
19.2.2 On July 1 and each July 1 thereafter, full-time employees who are eligible will progress one step up to Step 6.
19.2.2.1 When an eligible employee completes eight (8) calendar years of service in the District, that employee may be granted an increase of one (1) additional salary step on July 1 not to exceed Step 7.
19.2.2.2 When an eligible employee completes ten (10) calendar years of service in the District, that employee may be granted an increase of one (1) additional salary step on July 1 not to exceed Step 8.
Salary Step Progression. The following arrangements are effective from the January 2013 pay period and only apply to teachers who were employed in ASC schools on 16 December 2008. This arrangement is not retrospective for pay periods prior to 1 January 2013. Commencing 1 January 2013, teachers who were employed on 16 December 2008 at steps 6, 7, 8, 9 will progress up the salary scale as follows:
(a) Teachers paid at step 6 on 16 December 2008 progressed to steps 7 and 8 on their anniversary dates in 2009 and 2010 (converted to the new step 3 in the restructure of February 2010). This group received a graduate allowance of $1,600 in 2009 and will continue to progress to the appropriate incremental step via normal processes.
(b) Teachers paid at steps 5, 7 and 8 on 16 December 2008 progressed to the next increment on their anniversary dates in 2009 and 2010 then converted to the equivalent incremental point in February 2010.
Salary Step Progression. All Management classifications shall be included in a Management Salary Plan and Performance Evaluation System as established and administered by the City Manager. Except for Trainee positions within the Unit (which shall remain in ranges without steps), salary range for all Unit 18 classifications will have 5 equal steps. Rule 5 section 3 of the Personnel Rules and Regulations will control merit increase procedures.
