School Events. Bargaining unit members shall be admitted to all events sponsored by and held at Northwestern Schools without charge excluding fundraising events. A bargaining unit member will receive a non-transferable pass for that purpose and, upon acceptance, agree to intervene at such activities, as a District employee, if necessary to maintain order and discipline.

School Events. All Teaching Staff shall attend the following events without additional compensation: Staff Development Days, Admissions Open House, Curriculum Night, Parent Teacher Conferences, Board Staff Reception, Staff Meetings. All Teaching Staff shall participate in two (2) of the following school events without additional compensation, which may be outside of the regular School hours: MLK March, Farm Festival, Parents Association Meeting, New Admissions Reception, Big Night Out, and Farm Outing Day. MCS will endeavor to schedule these events at the beginning of each school year. If too few Teaching Staff have agreed to participate in any event, MCS shall first notify applicable Teaching Staff of such occurrence and the number of Teaching Staff who must be reallocated so that Teaching Staff may decide among themselves who shall participate in each to meet MCS’s minimum attendance requirements, and if such reallocation is not sufficient to meet MCS’s minimum attendance requirements for any event(s), MCS shall determine which Teaching Staff shall participate in each.

Each school year, Instructional Teaching Staff and Instructional Student Services Staff shall attend up to three (3) important school events that occur outside of the Instructional Day. Examples of such events include but are not limited to graduation day, open house, and school dances.

A representative of the Employer from the Campus (e.g. a Principal) must be present at each mandated event and shall be responsible for addressing any safety issues, health concerns, or emergencies. Notwithstanding the foregoing, all liability shall rest with the Employer.
