Short-term Compassionate Leave. Short-term Compassionate Leave of up to three (3) days per school year, may be granted at the discretion of the Human Resource Services Office with or without loss of pay, service credit and/or sick leave credits.
Short-term Compassionate Leave. ‌ In those companies that do not have similar or better schemes, the following provisions shall apply to short-term compassionate leave: The agreement shall cover at least the following cases of compassionate leave: 1. The employee is entitled to a total of up to 3 days' leave of absence, paid with ordinary wages, in the event of death and funeral, where it concerns an immediate family member. Immediate family means persons who are closely related to the employee, such as a spouse/registered partner, cohabitant, co-parent, child, stepchild, sibling, parent, parent-in-law, grandparent or grandchild. Leave of absence for the funeral of an employee, such that the employees in his/her department may be represented. 2. Leave of absence for an examination, treatment and check-up by a dentist, doctor or healthcare personnel who can issue a sick note, and further treatment as these indicate. This relates to events where it is not possible to obtain an appointment outside of working hours. In some cases, the employee may also have to travel far. Such cases are not covered by the provisions, which apply only to short compassionate leave. In the latter cases, the employee will usually be on sick leave. 3. Leave due to acute illness in the home. This refers to acute illness in the home, provided that other means of assistance are not available, and the employee's presence in the home is essential. The provisions for short-term leave of absence also apply here in order that the employee can make other arrangements. 4. Leave of absence for a spouse/registered partner or cohabitant when necessary in connection with childbirth. 5. Leave of absence when moving to a new permanent (registered in the National Registry) dwelling. 6. Leave of absence in the event of a special call during working hours in connection with blood donation. 7. Leave of absence for own wedding/entering into own partnership. 8. Leave of absence for the draft board 9. When it is required to accompany children the first time they start in kindergarten and/or primary school, the employee is entitled to up to 2 days' paid leave of absence. Short-term Compassionate Leave. A member may arrange with the Department and the Xxxx of the appropriate Division planned or emergency leave for one (1) month or less, with full salary and benefits. Permission for such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.

  • Short Term Leave Members who are LTD trustees and Union stewards or designates may apply in writing to the Employer for short term leaves of absence for; attendance at union conventions, union courses, and union committees. The employee will give reasonable notice, which will be at least seven (7) days. The Employer will make every reasonable effort to accommodate such leave, and shall grant it subject to the ability to maintain the operational needs of the department. With the exception of members of the Union's executive, the employer is not required to grant more than twenty (20) days LOA per calendar year under this provision.

  • Short Term Leaves Short Term Leaves are designed to allow Teachers who have to apply for short term personal leaves of absence not otherwise covered by this Collective Agreement.

  • Short Term Paid Leaves The parties agree that the issue of Short Term Paid Leaves had been addressed at the Central Table and the provisions shall remain status quo to provisions in current local collective agreements. For clarity, any leave of absence in the 2008-12 Collective Agreement, that utilizes deduction from sick leave, for reasons other than personal illness shall be granted without loss of salary or deduction from sick leave, to a maximum of five (5) days per school year. Local collective agreements that have more than (5) days shall be limited to five (5) days. These days shall not be used for the purpose of sick leave nor shall they be accumulated from year-to-year. Such provisions shall not be subject to local bargaining or mid-term amendments between local parties. Notwithstanding this stipulation, local collective agreement terms will need to align with the terms above.

  • Compassionate Leave (1) An employee is entitled to take up to 2 days’ paid compassionate leave on each occasion that a member of his or her immediate family or a member of his or her household: (a) contracts or develops an illness that poses a serious threat to his or her life; or (b) sustains an injury that poses a serious threat to his or her life; or

  • Taking compassionate leave An Employee may take compassionate leave for a particular permissible occasion if the leave is taken: (a) to spend time with the member of the Employee’s immediate family or household who has contracted or developed the personal illness, or sustained the personal injury, referred to clause 5. 2.3.1 of this Agreement; or (b) after the death of the member of the Employee’s immediate family or household An Employee may take compassionate leave for a particular permissible occasion as (a) a continuous two (2) day period; or (b) two (2) separate periods of one (1) day each; or (c) any separate periods to which the Employee and the Employer agree. If the permissible occasion is the contraction or development of a personal illness, or the sustaining of a personal injury, the Employee may take the compassionate leave for that occasion at any time while the illness or injury persists.

  • Long Term Leave Any employee who declines a reappointment as a Teaching Assistant in order to interrupt his/her program of graduate study for a period not to exceed one (1) year will not jeopardize his/her consideration for reappointment under Article l3.03.

  • Compassionate Care Leave 1. For the purposes of this article “family member” means:

  • Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness Leave a) Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness leaves granted to a permanent teacher, long-term occasional teacher or teacher hired into a term position under this Article shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act, as amended. b) The teacher will provide to the employer such evidence as necessary to prove entitlement under the Employment Standards Act. c) A teacher contemplating taking such leave(s) shall notify the employer of the intended date the leave is to begin and the anticipated date of return to active employment. d) Seniority and experience continue to accrue during such leave(s). e) Where a teacher is on such leave(s), the Employer shall continue to pay its share of the benefit premiums, where applicable. To maintain participation and coverage under the Collective Agreement, the teacher must agree to provide for payment for the teacher’s share of the benefit premiums, where applicable. f) In order to receive pay for such leaves, a teacher must access Employment Insurance and the Supplemental Employment Benefit (SEB) in accordance with g) to j), if allowable by legislation. An employee who is eligible for E.I. is not entitled to benefits under a school board’s sick leave and short term disability plan. g) The Employer shall provide for permanent teachers, long-term occasional teachers and teachers hired into a term position who access such Leaves, a SEB plan to top up their E.I.

  • Short Term Disability Plan The administration of the Short Term Disability Plan and the payment of benefits under this Plan shall be handled by the Company.

  • Educational Leave of Absence Leaves of absence may be granted up to six (6) months under the above provisions only if the course would be beneficial to both the University and the employee.
