SPECIAL SCHOOL PROGRAMS. Homebound tutors in the bargaining unit shall be paid at the rate established for other non-classroom service, as set forth in Appendix E, B.3.
SPECIAL SCHOOL PROGRAMS. These provisions apply to such programs as summer school, homebound instruction, and curriculum development.
1. Positions in these programs requiring teaching certificates shall be filled first by teachers regularly employed in the Manchester School System. The requirement of this subsection shall not apply to summer curriculum development.
2. In filling such positions, consideration shall be given to a teacher's area of competence, major and/or minor field of study, quality of teaching performance, attendance record, length of service in the system, and prior experience in these programs, if any. Whenever possible, all teachers regularly employed in the Manchester School System will be given first opportunity to serve as homebound instructors to their students.
3. All teachers shall be given adequate opportunity to make application for such positions. The following provision shall apply to the selection of an individual for a position listed in Appendix B involving responsibilities within a single building or for a student from a single building: If in the determination of the Superintendent the qualifications of applicants are substantially equivalent, preference shall be given to qualified teachers currently assigned to the building in which such programs will take place or where the relevant student is assigned. All applicants will be notified of the decision in writing as soon as practicable but within fourteen (14) days of appointment.
4. All openings for these positions, except homebound instruction and curriculum development, shall be listed in the Job Posting Notice as early as possible so interested teachers may apply.
5. Compensation for these positions shall be determined in accordance with the amounts set forth in Appendix B.
SPECIAL SCHOOL PROGRAMS. 44.1. These provisions apply to such programs as summer school and homebound.
44.1.1. Positions in these programs shall be filled first by teachers regularly employed in the school system who are qualified and certified for the position.
44.1.2. In determining if a teacher is qualified for such positions, consideration shall be given to a teacher’s certification, area of competence, major and/or minor field of study, quality of teaching performance, attendance record, length of service in the system, and prior experience in these programs, if any.
44.1.3. All openings for these positions shall be listed as early as possible so interested teachers may apply.
44.2. A teacher shall not tutor, for pay, a student who is under his immediate instruction in school.
44.2.1. School counselors, school psychologists, school psychotherapists, and school social workers shall not counsel, provide speech or language therapy, or any other professional service to students for remuneration.
SPECIAL SCHOOL PROGRAMS. 7.1 Positions in special school programs shall be filled first by teachers regularly employed in the school district.
(a) The compensation for homebound instruction shall be $77.00 per hour for the school year 2021-2022, $77.00 for 2022-2023, and $77.00 for 2023-2024. In addition $15 per day will be paid for travel expenses. Homebound tutoring reimbursement requests will be submitted on a bi-weekly basis.
(b) When homebound instruction is necessary, reasonable effort will be made to find a certified teacher in the employ of Region 9, whose certification is directly relevant to the content of the homebound instruction, to fill the position. First priority shall be given to the student’s assigned teacher, then to other teachers certified in that particular discipline. Special Education teachers can be considered appropriately certified for homebound instruction, if in the opinion of the Director of Special Education Services, they are able to successfully meet the needs of the student(s). • In the event that a Region 9 teacher is not able to provide this instruction, then the Director of Special Education Services shall have the right to assign a teaching paraprofessional with the appropriate experience, and this person’s pay shall be governed by the current JBSEA contract with the Board of Education. • A reasonable effort to secure appropriate teachers shall be met by the administration in the following manner: Once per year, the administration will solicit names of certified teachers willing to provide homebound instruction. The administration will then make a fair and equitable rotation of assignments among teachers who responded to this solicitation. • In situations where the student requiring homebound instruction is better able to receive such instruction during the school day, i.e., between 7 am and 2:30 pm, the Director of Special Education Services will be able to employ appropriately certified teachers and/or teaching paraprofessionals who are not members of the Association.
SPECIAL SCHOOL PROGRAMS. 1. These provisions apply to such programs as summer school, night school and homebound instruction:
(a) In filling such positions consideration shall be given to a teacher’s area of competence, major and/or minor field of study, quality of teaching performance, length of service in the system, and prior experience in these programs, if any.
(b) The Association will be notified of all openings for these positions as early as is reasonable so that it may post the positions to enable interested teachers to apply.
2. Homebound Instruction, Curriculum Writing, and Professional Development/In-service Presenters: Compensation shall be forty dollars ($40.00) per hour. The rate of pay for Summer School teachers shall not be less than forty dollars ($40.00) per hour for the duration of the Agreement.
3. As determined by the Board, extra pay for extra work are voluntary positions and teachers shall be paid at the rate of forty dollars ($40.00) per hour.
SPECIAL SCHOOL PROGRAMS. 2. Homebound Instruction, Curriculum Writing, and Professional Development/In-service Presenters: Compensation shall be thirty forty dollars ($40 30.00) per hour. The rate of pay for Summer School teachers shall not be less than thirty forty dollars ($40 30.00) per hour for the duration of the Agreement.
3. As determined by the Board, extra pay for extra work are voluntary positions and teachers shall be paid at the rate of thirty forty dollars ($40 30.00) per hour.
SPECIAL SCHOOL PROGRAMS. Adult Education, Summer School and Home-Bound Instruction.
8:3.1 The Board and the Federation recognize that these programs are as important to the total school system as the regular school programs and agree that it is absolutely essential that the best possible personnel be employed in them.
8:3.2 Where possible, preference for employment will be given to those people already employed by the school system. However, in those instances where it is clearly demonstrated that the pupil and the school system can best be served by someone not employed in the school system, this person shall be engaged to perform this function. In selecting persons, consideration will be given to the person’s over-all record of performance, length of service to the local system and prior experience in the specific program in which employment is sought. Nothing herein shall be construed to govern conditions of employment of persons employed in special school programs, but not otherwise employed in the school system.
8:3.3 All vacancies for the Adult Education, Summer School Programs, curriculum projects, and other related projects shall be filled by the Superintendent or his or her designee.
SPECIAL SCHOOL PROGRAMS. These provisions apply to such programs as summer school and homebound:
A. Positions in these programs will be filled first by qualified teachers regularly employed in the school system.
B. All openings for these positions shall be listed as early as possible so interested teachers may apply. All openings for these positions shall be posted on the Applitracks system and all teachers will be notified of openings via email as early as possible (at least five (5) school days during the school year and at least ten (10) calendar days during the summer) prior to the application deadline so interested teachers may apply.
SPECIAL SCHOOL PROGRAMS. 25.1 These provisions apply to positions in programs for which certification is required.
(a) In filling these positions, preference shall be given to qualified teachers regularly employed in the school system.
(b) In filling such positions, the criteria shall be a teacher's area of competence, major and/or minor field of study, length of service in the system, and prior experience in these programs, if any.
(c) All openings for these positions, except Homebound Instruction, shall be listed at least two (2) weeks prior to commencement of the program.
(d) Teachers shall be paid for Summer School at a rate of $38.86 in each year of the contract.
(e) Teachers shall be paid for Adult Education at a rate of $38.86 in each year of the contract.
(f) Teachers shall be paid for Homebound Instruction at a rate of $38.86 in each year of the contract.
SPECIAL SCHOOL PROGRAMS. A. Initial consideration will be given to teachers presently employed by the Windsor Locks System in filling positions in the summer school, adult education and homebound instruction.
B. In filling such positions, consideration shall be given to a teacher’s area of competence, major and/or minor field of study, quality of teacher performance, attendance record and prior experience in these programs, if any.
C. All openings for these positions shall be listed as early as possible so interested teachers may apply.
