Specific Applications. For greater certainty, the following provisions shall be administered as provided herein:
Specific Applications. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, it will be observed on the preceding Friday. When a holiday falls on a Sunday, it will be observed on the following Monday. If an employee is absent from work the day before or after a holiday, the employee will not receive holiday pay until proof of illness or other excusable absence if established in a manner suitable to the employee’s Department Head.
Specific Applications. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, it will be observed on the preceding Friday. When holiday falls on a Sunday, it will be observed on the following Monday for employees assigned straight days shifts.
Specific Applications. (A) Employees laid off during a month, lose coverage at the end of that month unless they elect to continue coverage under COBRA.
(B) Employees recalled from layoff during the first fifteen (15) days of a month will be covered by group insurance from the first (1st) day of the month.
(1) Those employees who paid their share of the premiums coverage during layoff and are recalled during the first fifteen-(15) days of a month shall have that month's COBRA premium refunded.
(C) Employees recalled from layoff after the fifteenth (15th) day of the month will be covered beginning the first (1st) day of the succeeding/following month.
(1) Those employees who paid their share of the COBRA premium during layoff and are recalled after the fifteenth (15) day of the month will continue to be covered by group insurance with no premium refund.
Specific Applications. A. All holidays shall be observed from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. If a holiday falls on a weekend, Saturday holidays (other than Christmas) shall be designated as Friday off and Sunday holidays (other than Christmas Eve) shall be designated as Monday off.
B. Newly-hired full-time employees are immediately eligible for holiday pay.
C. In the event an employee does not work the scheduled day before or the day after the holiday, the employee will be ineligible to receive holiday pay, unless the absence is for good cause shown.

If holiday(s)occur consecutively on Friday/Saturday, they shall be designated off on Thursday/Friday; and, should they occur consecutively on Sunday/Monday, they shall be designated off on Monday/Tuesday. If a holiday (not Personal Day) occurs during an employee's regular scheduled vacation, the extra day may be added to the employee's regularly scheduled vacation period. In order to qualify for holiday pay (not Personal Day), the employee shall work the scheduled day before the holiday and the scheduled day after the holiday or be on approved leave with pay. However, an employee calling off sick on their scheduled workday before or after a designated holiday, regardless of if approved, shall render them ineligible for "holiday pay" pursuant to Section 11.3 below.
Specific Applications. (A) The Village Manager or his designee will post by December 15th a schedule of days off for the Village observed holidays that fall in the next calendar year. Where applicable the actual calendar holiday will serve as the official day for benefits and compensation (i.e., if the 4th of July is on Sunday, and the Village is off on Monday the 5th, Holiday OT per this contract will be paid on Sunday the 4th). All employees will receive the 8 hours’ regular pay on Monday the 5th, and those who are called in to work OT on Monday the 5th will be paid at 1 ½ at their applicable pay). However, in no event shall the Village schedule any holiday on a Saturday or Sunday.
(B) To be eligible for holiday pay, employees must work the scheduled day prior to the holiday and their regularly scheduled day after the holiday, unless otherwise approved. If absent either or both of these days due to claimed illness, to be eligible for holiday pay, the Village may require acceptable written verification signed by a doctor as proof of such illness, provided the Village requests such verification within twenty-four (24) hours of the employee's return to work.

If holiday(s) occur consecutively on Friday/Saturday, they shall be designated off on Friday and the following Monday; and, should they occur consecutively on Sunday/Monday, they shall be designated off on the prior Friday and following Monday.
(b) If a holiday (not Personal Day) occurs during an employee’s regular scheduled vacation, the extra day may be added to the employee's regularly scheduled vacation period.
(c) In order to qualify for holiday pay (not Personal Day), the employee shall work the scheduled day before the holiday and the scheduled day after the holiday or be on approved leave with pay.
Specific Applications. Employees may be excused without pay to vote in local, state, or national elections if a reasonable period of off-duty time is not available.
