Summer School Sick Leave. A teacher in summer school shall be granted one (1) non-accumulative leave day for use in case of personal business or personal illness during the summer school period. For purposes of definition, the day is a scheduled workday regardless of the number of hours per day that the teacher is assigned. A teacher xxx then use his accumulated sick leave from the regular school year if so needed. In this case, four (4) hours or less of instructional time equals one-half (1/2) day and more than four (4) hours of instructional time equals one day.

Summer School Sick Leave. Current Professional Staff Members who hold/maintain an accumulated summer school sick leave balance on September 1, 2017, shall have all accumulated hours/days of summer school sick leave transferred to their regular sick leave accumulation balance. Professional Staff Members employed in summer school shall have the right, at their discretion, to use paid sick leave during summer school.

Staff Selection Criteria‌ In selecting teachers for Summer School, the District shall give priority to credentialed and qualified CTAB bargaining unit members over non-unit member applicants. In selecting among or between unit member applicants for a Summer School position, the District shall consider certification, special requirements in the program description, teaching experience in the subject matter or grade level, major/minor field of study, and documented strengths and weaknesses. When two or more unit members are considered equal by the District, the District shall select the most senior unit member applicant for the Summer School position. If a unit member is not selected for summer School, he/she may request in writing 782 the reason for the non-selection. The District shall respond in writing within five 783 work days of receiving the request.
Summer School Sick Leave. Bargaining unit members who are assigned to work summer school outside their contract year shall earn one (1) day per month (a month consists of eighteen [18] school days) or fraction thereof. Unused sick leave for such employees shall be added to their regular work year calendar accrued sick leave. Up to two days of regular work year calendar accrued sick leave may be used during summer school on a day for day basis. Such sick leave shall not be carried over into the summer for the purpose of Personal Necessity.
