Work Year Calendar. 8.02.1 The regular work year for teachers shall be 180 instructional days and two (2) non-instructional days and three (3) staff development days (eighteen [18] hours) for a total of 185 days. Any teacher unable to make up the staff development as planned by the school site shall be provided opportunities to make up the hours. Opportunities for make-up will be provided for all members to ensure completion of all required hours. Teachers unable to make up the hours may use their accrued sick leave in order to be paid for the 3 staff development days. The District may require newly hired teachers to serve up to two (2) additional non- instructional days during their first two years in the District for District in-service.

The District may, at its discretion, include two (2) unencumbered days during inservice to be used at employees’ discretion in preparation for the school year. The salary information portion of this agreement represents the amount to be paid members of the CEA for full-time employment. Regular, part-time employees shall receive a prorated salary determined by their full- time equivalency multiplied by their placement on the salary schedule.

The Union President and two other classified bargaining unit members, whom the President will appoint, shall be given the opportunity to consult with the Superintendent in formulating a calendar recommendation to the school board. Prior to May 30 of each school year, employees will receive notice of projected workdays for the next school year.
Work Year Calendar. 1. Beginning/End of the School Year The Association and Administration recognize the importance of adequate preparation of the educational environment. Adequate preparation time at school will be scheduled from the time available prior to the first student day. Each school’s management team will ensure that time provided is adequate to accomplish school goals and teacher preparation. End of the year check out is designed to inventory District property to prevent loss of equipment and prepare rooms for any summer work. Each school shall develop guidelines and procedures through site based decision making, for end of the year check out and staff participation at end of year activities, including graduation and promotion. These agreed upon guidelines shall be communicated to staff no later than May 15 of each school year. Final pay will be distributed with the last regularly scheduled pay for teachers.
