Traditional Schedule. The assigned work year shall encompass two 5 hundred twelve (212) assigned days (one hundred eighty-eight [188] 6 actual days), dates for which are specified in the calendars (see 7 Appendix A).

Traditional Schedule. In the middle and senior high schools, with the exception of Music, Physical Education, and teacher-requested remediation, the maximum assigned class load for a traditional schedule shall not exceed one hundred fifty-five (155) students per teacher per day, and the number of students in any one (1) class, except Music, Physical Education, and teacher-requested remediation shall not exceed thirty-one (31). In Industrial Arts, Home Economics, and Art classes, the class load shall not exceed one hundred forty (140) students per day.
Traditional Schedule a. The school day shall have eight (8) sets, each set no less than forty (40) minutes.
b. Each teacher shall have a minimum of two (2) planning sets per day, with the exception of physical education teachers who will have a minimum of one (1) planning period per day. No teacher shall be assigned more than six (6) sets per day without the teacher’s consent.
c. Duties assigned during an extra assignment set shall be equitably distributed among all teachers.
d. If a teacher agrees to accept or is assigned a seventh assignment set, that teacher shall be compensated at the rate of an additional one-sixth of his or her annual salary.
e. A teacher shall not have more than three (3) teaching preparations except in cases of extenuating circumstances. Any teacher with more than three (3) teaching preparations will be assigned as few extra duties as possible.
f. Each teacher shall have one (1) duty free lunch period as long as the students’ lunch period but not less than 30 minutes in length.
g. A change, from a rotating schedule to a traditional schedule or from a traditional schedule to a rotating schedule, shall not be made by the principal without consultation with the entire faculty.

Traditional Schedule. The weekly teaching load assignments for secondary schools will be twenty-five (25) 55- minute teaching periods; five (5) 55-minute unassigned periods for conference - preparation, and a daily duty free lunch period equal to the student lunch period. This schedule shall be in effect unless a flexible schedule as provided below has been agreed upon. Flexible weekly teaching load assignments, unassigned periods for conference - preparations and a daily duty-free lunch period different from that as specified above may be implemented upon the agreement of the Building Principal and a majority of a teaching staff in a building and joint approval of the Superintendent and the Union. Such flexible schedules shall be subject to review on a yearly basis. Teachers understand the meaning of conference - preparation period and will use it to the fullest advantage of the students. A teacher may consent to teach during the conference - preparation period on a full-time basis and for this assignment shall be compensated at a rate equal to one of the teacher's class periods paid at the Masters' salary at step zero (0), prorated on the basis of time actually spent in the assignment. This type of assignment will not be used unless an emergency exists.
