Unpaid Absence. In addition to the circumstances specified elsewhere in this Agreement, the Employer, in its discretion may approve a leave without pay for the following reasons specified below. Unpaid absences must be approved or denied by the Employer in writing within fourteen (14) calendar days of the request when practicable and if denied will include the reason for denial. Approval will set a date for the employee’s return to work. Modification of the return date must also be approved in writing by the Employer. When an employee is in unpaid status for more than eighty (80) hours in a month (pro-rated for their FTE) their progression start date will be adjusted by one (1) month, They will not accrue vacation time off.
Unpaid Absence. 1. If the clerical employee has been absent from work and the employer has not been obliged to pay wages for that time, the absence may be compensated for with a corresponding number of working hours if so agreed.

While on approved leave in excess of thirty (30) days, a member shall have the option to remain an active participant in the District fringe benefit programs by contributing in advance the necessary premiums each month. The District will comply with the requirements of the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA).

Unpaid Absence. An employee who is ineligible for paid leave due to an exhausted sick leave bank or circumstances that do not qualify for paid time off, and who does not qualify for a temporary medical absence under Article 19A. 5 above, may be granted a short term unpaid leave of absence. Approval for the unpaid leave is at the sole discretion of the Superintendent or his/her designee and shall not be subject to the grievance procedure.

Unpaid Absence. An employee may be granted leave without pay and without loss of seniority on approval from the Corporation. A request in writing, outlining all pertinent details of the purpose of the leave without pay, shall be submitted to the Fire Chief at least two weeks before the requested leave, unless the request arises from an emergency. An employee on unpaid leave of absence shall not accrue sick leave credits, recognized holidays, lieu days or vacation entitlement and, subject to paragraph 9.4, shall be responsible for payment of all fringe benefits on a pro-rata basis.

Payments must be made at least one (1) month in advance no later than the first day of each month or coverage may be terminated seven (7) calendar days thereafter.
Unpaid Absence. For absences not included in allowable leave, full pay will be deducted for days absent, with the School District paying the substitute. The pay deducted for absences will be 1/184th of the yearly pay for each day lost.
