Vacation Travel Allowance. (a) After two (2) years continuous employment all permanent employees are entitled to Vacation Travel Allowance annually in the amount of one thousand one hundred ($1,100.00) dollars. (b) The first Vacation Travel Allowance shall be paid on the employee’s second anniversary date. The Employer will pay out the portion of the Vacation Travel Allowance earned from the second anniversary date to December 31st of the same year, at the rate of ninety-one dollars and sixty-seven ($91.67) cents for each month, subject to: (i) an employee having received at least ten (10) days’ pay in each month; and (ii) an employee having received at least ten (10) days’ pay per month for twenty-four (24) consecutive months. The Vacation Travel Allowance in subsequent years shall be paid by the end of each calendar year. (c) When an employee who has completed at least two (2) years of service terminates, the Vacation Travel Allowance will be prorated in the amount of ninety-one dollars and sixty-seven ($91.67) cents per month for each completed month of service in which ten (10) days are worked, the months to be accumulated from the last payment of Vacation Travel Allowance. (d) It is agreed and understood the above shall apply only to those employees entitled to receive the Vacation Travel Allowance pursuant to the current Collective Agreement. (e) All permanent employees shall receive a monthly Vacation Travel Allowance in the amount of three hundred and thirty-three dollars and thirty-three cents ($333.33) for each calendar month in which the employee has worked at least ten (10) days.
Vacation Travel Allowance. 41.01 All employees, except casuals, shall be paid a Vacation Travel Allowance. At all times, this allowance shall be equivalent to the Nunavut Northern Allowance that the Government of Nunavut pays to its unionized employees in Pond Inlet pursuant to its collective agreement with the Nunavut Employees Union ($24,214 annual rate as at April 1st, 2014). The annual amount is converted to an hourly rate ($12.38 as at April 1st, 2014) and it is paid on all regular hours paid. 41.02 No later than April 1st of each fiscal year, employees shall be entitled to elect by notice in writing to take up to 50% of the Vacation Travel Assistance to be earned in the coming fiscal year by way of lump sum payment on the following March 31st. Each pay period, the percentage selected will be multiplied by the Vacation Travel Assistance earned in that pay period to determine the amount to be included in the amount being deferred until the following March 31st. The portion that is not included in the deferred amount would be paid to the Employee on their biweekly pay. 41.03 The Employer shall supply the notice forms on which such election in writing should be made to all employees by the February 1st immediately preceding an April 1st notice deadline. 41.04 In the event that an employee terminates his/her employment before March 31st then he/she will receive on their final pay the accumulated deferred portion of the allowance, calculated up to the date of termination of employment. 41.05 An employee's Vacation Travel Assistance shall be designated as a travel allowance pursuant to the Income Tax Act.
