LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD. A Member who has completed their probationary period may be granted a leave of absence, with or without pay, and without loss of seniority on the following basis: Written application for such leave showing good and sufficient reason for a leave must be submitted to the Superintendent of Human Resources or designate, for approval, two (2) months prior to the date on which the leave is to commence. A shorter notice period will be acceptable under extenuating circumstances.

Upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, the employing Board may permit members of the professional staff to take leaves not in excess of two (2) years in length for rest, restoration of health, study or the alleviation of hardship involving themselves or their immediate families.
