An employee hired after 4/1/98 who bids on a workweek that contains Saturday as part of the bid cannot have that day claimed by an employee with the right of first refusal. An employee with the right of first refusal will have exercised that right during the bid process to select a workweek. Union stewards shall be responsible for contacting any dispatcher or load planner who is absent at the time of the annual bids and shall be allowed to sign the bids in lieu of the absent employee.
