Application and Selection. (1) Application for professional development leave shall contain an appropriate outline of the project or work to be accomplished during the leave. (2) The University or its representative shall select applicants when the university believes that completion of the project or work would improve the productivity of the department or function of which the employee is a part. Criteria for selection of professional development leave applicants shall be specified by the University and made available to eligible employees. (3) No more than one (1) employee in each department/unit need be granted leave at the same time.

Each application shall include a statement describing the program and activities to be followed while on sabbatical, the expected increase in value of the employee to the University and the employee's academic discipline, specific results anticipated from the leave, any anticipated supplementary income, and a statement that the applicant agrees to comply with the conditions of the sabbatical program as described in Article 22.3(D)(3) below. (2) Sabbaticals at half-pay shall be granted unless the University has determined that the conditions set forth in this Section have not been met or that departmental/unit staffing considerations preclude such sabbatical from being granted. In this latter instance, the employee shall be provided the sabbatical the following year, or at a later time as agreed to by the employee and the University. The period of postponement shall be credited for eligibility for a subsequent sabbatical. (3) If there are more applicants for one (1) semester sabbaticals at full-pay than available sabbaticals, a committee shall rank the applicants based on their respective applications. The committee shall be elected by and from the employees eligible for sabbatical leave as specified in Article 22.3(C) above. The committee chairperson shall be selected by the President or representative. The committee, in ranking the applicants, shall consider the benefits of the proposed program to the employee, the University and the profession; an equitable distribution of sabbaticals among colleges, divisions, schools, departments, and disciplines within the University; the length of time since the employee was relieved of teaching duties for the purpose of research and other scholarly activities; and length of service since previous sabbatical or initial appointment. The committee shall submit ranked lists of recommended employees to the President or representative. The President or representative shall make appointments from the lists and consult with the committee prior to an appointment that does not follow the committee's rankings. No professional development leave will be awarded without a completed application form. Each application shall contain an appropriate description of the project or work to be accomplished during the leave; an indication why the applicant believes the product or work to be undertaken will improve the productivity of the department or improve his/her professional contribution to the department/unit of which the applicant is a part; any anticipated supplementary income, and a statement that the applicant agrees to comply with the conditions of the professional development leave. Thereafter, the applicant’s supervisor may submit a letter of endorsement supporting their request and noting expected benefits to the unit. (b) The University shall select applicants on the basis of whether completion of the project or work would enhance the employee’s contributions to the employee’s department/academic unit. Completed application forms must be received by the Xxxxxxx or designee by the announced deadline for consideration for the following academic year. The application deadline dates shall be in January/February prior to the academic year beginning in August.

Application and Selection. An application for sabbatical leave must be submitted to the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources by January 15 of the school year preceding the planned leave. An application must be approved by the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and the Superintendent prior to being presented to the Board of Education. The Board will act upon all application requests at its regular meeting in February. Application and selection procedures are determined by the Administration. Each application form should contain: answers to questions relating to previous leaves; specific sabbatical plans; anticipated values to the applicant, colleagues, and students; and evidence of the applicant's past efforts toward professional growth.
Application and Selection. Selection will be made from a written application stating teacher goals and/or ISD 196 benefits. All applications must be made to ISD 196 office no later than March 1 preceding the school year during which leave is requested. ISD 196 Sabbatical Leave Committee consisting of three (3) teachers designated by DCUE and two (2) administrators designated by the Superintendent will review these applications. The Committee will recommend to the Superintendent the names of applicants to be considered for sabbatical leave. The Superintendent will approve and recommend to the School Board for approval, the names of the applicants selected. All applicants will be notified of acceptance or rejection on or before April 1. The decision of the School Board is final and binding.
Application and Selection. A teacher who has been employed for seven (7) years in the School District may apply for sabbatical leave. This leave is to be for one (1) year in length for the purpose of professional growth. Sabbatical leave may be granted at the discretion of the School District. The approval or disapproval of such leave by the School District shall be final and binding and shall not be subject to the grievance procedure. The applicant may resubmit application for such leave the following school year.
